WINTER FEST PERTH
Kicking off over the past weekend and running till the 29th of July is this years Winter Fest Perth. A mix of free events, food deals, entertainment and things to do dotted around the City of Perth, there is a heap to make you forget all about the winter blues. Or, that is how I decided to take it! Below I have already headed along to some of the free activities and am sharing my picks of the festival. Giant swing, ball pit and all.
If we have to have winter (I am not the biggest fan!) it is worth trying to make it as fun as possible, right? It’ll be over sooner that way, right?! haha
With installations and activities dotted around town, Mario and I spent our Sunday afternoon walking around the city to see what we could find. The Dream Swinger was my favourite.
Up in the Hay Street Mall, there is a cute cloud canopy light installation and if you are lucky, snowfall (a total novelty for us that we just happened to walk through as it started snowing!). We did try to order the hot chocolate bomb from Sue Lewis but they were not open and the Yagan Square store didn’t have them just yet but they assured me they will be available from this week. Please go try one for me and report back!!
THE DREAM SWINGER
Head down to Elizabeth Quay and enjoy the thrill of the ride on the giant swing. Entry is via gold coin donation and if you are anything like me, you will want to go on it twice!
Ride the inside lane if you get dizzy easily or the outside if you want to experience it all! I loved both and so did the kids behind us screaming “This is SO FUN!!” over and over. In my head, so was I and you couldn’t wipe the grin off my face.
GIANT BALL PIT
Early on Saturday morning, I met up with fellow Perth bloggers Adelle and Monique to jump into the giant ball pit! Filled with 50,000 white ‘snow’ balls, the pit is a lot of fun! It was a hit too as I could easily tell the kids were not wanting to get out. Best of all it is free and no tickets are required. Just head down and jump on in.
Find it at the Winter Fest Dome, Yagan Square, Corner Wellington Street and William St, Perth.
Open to all ages 9 am to 2 pm Monday to Saturday and 11 am to 3 pm on Sundays. Want to go on a date night? Adult only sessions are from 5 pm to 8 pm on Thursday 5th and Friday 6th of July.
WINTER FEST THEATRE
Featuring acrobats, comedians, jugglers, and circus performers, Forrest Place is a theatrical hub during Winter Fest. With free shows running for families during the day and Adult shows on Friday 6, Saturday 7, Friday 13, Saturday 14 July there is plenty to do! Click here to snatch up tickets. They are free but be sure to order them before seats book out. I am taking Mario to the Improv night ’cause he loves the Big Hoo Haa guys.
A deluxe, variety cabaret featuring acrobatic feats and tantalizing acts.
The Improvisation Station
Members of the Big Hoo Haa for entertaining and interactive improvisation comedy.
WINTER FEST BINGE
One last pick is the Friends Binge night at the Town Hall. Screening season 3 of Friends on Saturday 21 July from 4pm to 10.30pm I wish I could get along! I love Friends! It would be such a fun night to watch it up on a big screen and settle into beanbags with an UberEATS order with some friends. Go for me, ’cause I have something else on that night!
