Over the weekend I headed down to Rockingham to style an outfit based on an iconic fashion image. Reworking the iconic look for today using items sourced at Rockingham Shopping Centre, I went with an image that I had pinned to my wall as a teen.
The image I particularly loved is this of friends Audrey Hepburn and Hubert de Givenchy walking along the Seine (note the Eiffel Tower in the background). Taken in 1982, I love that this image is not the young Audrey Hepburn done up for her films, but the everyday woman walking street style with her lifelong friend- that is what I wanted to capture with the project.

The beauty of shopping from a centre like Rockingham is that you are limited only by your imagination with the kind of looks you can create. The outfit I went with is attainable, practical, inexpensive as well as iconic. I did add in my own Givenchy bag (from my own closet) to my look as a nod to the iconic image (my version of walking with Givenchy- if only we could have shot along the Seine!).
The other bloggers and I met for coffee, chatted over our looks before separating to find what we were after. I was happy to find the trench so easily at Cotton On, and on sale at $39.95! I then proceeded to hunt down wide leg pants or jeans all over, finding a few good pant/ jean options, before some how landing back to the fit of these at Cotton On. I am not sure how that happened! Live, Jeanswest and Just Jeans all had great denim options too, I could have gone with any! Sadly I didn’t find the wide leg pant I was after, but W Lane and Forever New did have some good options. To modernise the look I headed into the sports stores to find some sneakers- there were a few options, but I narrowed it down to this affordable pair at Rebel Sport. Somehow of the allocated $300 budget, I walked away having spent $185- I could have gone with a more expensive denim option, but honestly loved the fit of these everyday jeans.
This month Rockingham Shopping Centre is running a competition called “Swap your Style” where people can bring in their old stuff and swap it for a $20 RSC gift card. The old clothes will then be donate to The Salvation Army. While you are there, find the look I styled along with the other bloggers looks on display at the centre. You can even vote for your favourite blogger look to go in the draw to win a $200 RSC gift card. You could buy this whole look for that and have change! Find the details on that competition here.
