Keeping it simple with three transeasonal fashion basics.
OLD AND NEW
In my last post, I was talking about how little I had shopped over the past year. So, today I wanted to share this look, which combined the old staples in my capsule with one of those nine pieces I’d bought. The old- the slip dress, boots, and bag. And the new- this oversized crop trench coat jacket from Anine Bing. This jacket was something I saw online and wasn’t so interested in but when I saw it in person at a local boutique, I realized how cool it was. At the moment it is on sale up on Shopbop – who side note, have a bunch of very cool sales going on at up to 70% off. I might have ordered a Rhode dress for upcoming spring & summer events.

KEEPING IT SIMPLE
While I have a beauty drawer that let’s face it, I am damn happy with, my thing about beauty is to keep it low-key. Even if I put makeup on in the bathroom and glance at another mirror in the house and suspect I’m wearing too much, I rush back in to take some off. In terms of beauty icons, I love French makeup artist Violette. This week I was watching one of her IGTV makeup videos and just loved her less is more approach to a glowy everyday look. She does things like take off the foundation on her nose to make her whole face look less done and I kinda love that.
Similarly to my wardrobe, I make sure to clear out my bathroom and makeup drawer often to get rid of products that don’t work for me. I either see if friends want to try them out or I bin them. When I’m binning something though, it makes me more conscious of not over-ordering! This Hourglass lip gloss is one that I’ll be keeping around. It’s such a nice glowy tint without being too sticky or overdone.
THREE TRANSEASONAL FASHION BASICS
Just in case you hadn’t already guessed them, my three transeasonal fashion basics are the slip dress, ankle boot, and army-style jacket. Actually you could also substitute the last one for a trench coat since this style is essentially a cropped trench and either does the trick. I’m a huge fan of slip dresses, they are so damn comfortable. See more evidence of this one styled back in this post here. These boots, after years (as in, they got their blog time debut in 2013 here) are still my favourites. Look after something well and you can definitely see the return on investment.
Basic, well made and wearable over and over. I love these for the cooler days that either spring or autumn bring.
What are you wearing at the moment? Needing to layer up? Or reaching for light linens? Would love to hear what is going on in your corner of the world. Let me know below and thank you in advance for sharing with us! xx Jenelle
