Summer blue when all I want to do is wear denim. And knitwear and light coats. And skip to autumn.
It really took me a while this year to embrace summer. Now, more than half-way through, I am sorta embracing it but only sorta. As I type, I am wearing a cable knit wool cardigan that just arrived ready for the cool autumn days to come. To be fair, it has been a chilly morning. As a denim lover, I still try to wear jeans as often as I can, but there are times that it just isn’t practical. I dragged out the denim shorts and mini skirts from the bottom of my denim pile and have forced myself to wear those instead. Embracing bare leg weather isn’t usually so tough.
Maybe I have just been less inspired lately by summer fashion. That’s okay too. It happens. Still, this denim mini and classic striped Breton tee is just the right amount of summer blue and I loved it together.
Can you tell that I’ve sat with this post a while without really knowing what I wanted to write? It happens. And I’m sorry if you skim this post and mostly take it in for the outfit idea visuals. As I said above, summer has me dressing simply and as such, I don’t have a lot to say about it.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Here is what I’ve been thinking about: Food! Things like portion sizing for food, knowing how much is too much for my body. I’ve been excited to make some new gluten-free and plant-based meals. So much so that for once I actually feel super excited to eat and plan out my meals for the day. I’ve been working out what I need to maximise my energy without feeling too hyper or lethargically full. Balancing this all with my workouts, doing mental exercises (puzzles, I finally taught myself what sudoku was, reading, etc) and decent sleep has been a priority.
Besides food, I’ve been spending time chatting with friends, which is so damn good. It’s so easy to get swept up in routine and work and forget to take time out to do something fun! We’ve had dinners, walks, and picnics. The only downside to which was the ant bites that have swollen my ankle the past few days. So fun.
Plus, if you can’t already tell, I am already getting set up for updates in the way of wardrobe for autumn, which is basically my favourite season to dress for.
