A sleeveless coat is something I could wear all year. While it may be something you didn’t know you needed, I am here to convince you otherwise.

THE SLEEVELESS COAT YOU DIDN’T KNOW YOU NEEDED (TILL NOW)

There are a couple of chic and understated pieces that I have added to my staple wardrobe which just add a touch of polish. This sleeveless coat is one of those staples! Call it a vest, I have shared my love of those more than once. In fact, I seem to regularly convert dresses into vests as well. You last saw that in my post STYLE HACK: WEARING DRESSES AS A VEST. There is something a little Parisian about the boxy cut of a long vest that I love. Sleeveless coats and vests just embody cool.

AN INVESTMENT PIECE (PUN INTENDED)

There have been a number of times that I have to head out to an event or meeting in a hurry and throwing this longline coat over my look elevates it instantly. Thankfully, they also serve as a perfect layering item for those days where the weather is likely to backflip between hot and cold. Layering with a long vest is so easy, they are the perfect investment piece.

My favourite way to wear it is with a simple cami top and jeans. It is a layering piece which comes in handy all year. If bare arms are not an option I opt for a classic white shirt or a chic turtleneck knit. Though for either I stick to neutrals, a striped top would be an interesting choice too.

Keeping the look pretty minimal and undone, head to toe black allows accessory choices to really stand out. The longline of the coat draws the eye down to the shoes, which is always a win if you love shoes as much as I do!

To keep the top interesting, layer necklaces and make a case for a statement earring. The v-neck also draws the eye to jewellery, regardless of whether you button it up or choose to leave it open. Honestly, be it a sleeveless coat in a longline or a boxy vest- cut just above the knee, either are the perfect solution to showing off accessories.

ARE YOU GAME?
