Mixing up the everyday looks with a nature-inspired accessory update.
LESS IS MORE
I feel like it has been forever since I bought any new clothing. Actually, going back over the past year, I purchased a total of seven items of clothing. That was it. And, yes, my job largely for years has been based around fashion blogging. I’ve gone into the reasons why I shop less than I used to in this blog post. That post also goes through the questions I ask before I buy anything.
Buying only seven items is a good indicator of how you can really use the wardrobe you have to create lots of great looks. Of course, I have set up my wardrobe with key essentials to make sure I can do that. This is all documented under my capsule wardrobe posts, find some of those here with ‘my capsule wardrobe revisited‘ and ‘what I learned having a capsule wardrobe‘. I should also note that this doesn’t include the items I am gifted by brands or use credits to purchase. Sometimes I am paid by a brand in store credit, which I use to make an order (and then make up the difference myself if I go over). Though, I don’t say yes all that often to accepting gifted items, as I don’t need that many. A small amount from the brands I am completely in love with is enough to share with my community.
A SIMPLE ACCESSORY UPDATE
Instead of clothing, I’ve been updating my looks with accessories. From shoes to bags and jewellery, I love to add those details to mix up an everyday look. Lately, I have embraced warmer neutral tone accessories such as the wooden beaded bags and tortoiseshell detail shoes I am wearing above. Both from Australian brands, the shoes are by Wittner. They are so comfortable, I love the wooden heel detail. Shop the shoes here (heads up they are on sale).
The wooden bag is by Husskie, who launched their accessories range last month. I was kindly sent this bag from founder Yelena, who is just one of my favourite people. She’s the sweetest, I adore how down to earth she is and I think this comes through in her brand. Shop the beaded bag here. I’ve paired this one with a few dresses over summer and love having that wooden aspect. It’s such a statement while feeling a bit natural too.
