Food, fashion (and fashion bloggers), designer furniture and more. Some of the events I’ve been to in Perth lately for a little diary entry.
Today I thought I would share something a little bit different with you all. Rather than a foodie post or fashion outfit post, this time I am sharing some casual snaps from a few of the fun events I have been to lately. These are mostly photos taken on my phone because I think I only remembered to take my camera with to one of these events! Needless to say, you can probably spot the more grainy, laid-back photos! I hope this is okay with you guys. In general, I only use phone photos for the occasional Instagram post or for my Instagram stories. Anyway, let me know what you think of this diary style post below!
You may recall thanks to my Instagram that I recently headed along to a very pink and very elegant High Tea at my favourite Perth hotel, The Westin Perth. If you want to jump over to this post, you can read and see exactly what our luxurious stay at The Westin was like! I was more than happy to accept, of course, I love a High Tea!
The morning event was held in the Haven Lounge, on the ground floor which offers a beautiful setting for an elegant High Tea. The Haven Lounge are celebrating spring with a range of High Tea packages and we got to sample them with Moët & Chandon. Not bad at all, right?!
THE WESTIN PERTH HIGH TEA
The High Tea was such a treat! Greeted with a glass of Moët Rosé Impérial, the space had been transformed with a stunning balloon and floral installation! I am always so happy to have the excuse to catch up with my friends and fellow bloggers and creative Perth based women. This event was just beautiful and I think you can tell we had fun! There were plenty of cute photo ops and #moetmoments naturally! The delicious food was served on individual stands, meaning we were soon all very full and probably in no hurry to leave!
The High Tea at The Westin is served daily from 12pm to 4pm.
Bookings are recommended, call 08 6559 1888.
Moët & Chandon talked us through some of the interesting facts behind their iconic French champagne. The Rosé Impérial is a celebration of hope and love, perfectly fitting for spring and summer.
Australia is Moët’s second largest consumer, and is outside of Europe, the largest consumer. No surprises there! Rosé, is the largest growing category of Champagne in Australia, again, no surprises there! I have a bottle of the Moët Rosé Impérial in my cupboard waiting for the right occasion! The Rosé Impérial has an expressive palette of red berry fruits such as wild strawberry, raspberry and cherry combined with a fresh subtle note of menthol. It has a light bouquet of rose with a touch of black pepper. Due to the structure and tannin from the red grape it makes a perfect food match!
Bonus tip- the Rosé Impérial cellars for longer than the Blanc.
It will definitely be the perfect thing for celebrating the big race this week coming too! If you are in Australia, what are you doing for Melbourne Cup Day? Let me know below!
Below, the group shot I am with (from left to right) Lou from The Boyfriend Shirt, Emily from She Does, Mon Palmer, Olivia from Olympia Creative, Me, Karen Cheng, Sandy from Hello Parry and Eden from De Fleur Creative, Monique from Little Miss Mon Bon and Ashleigh Jade.
MOBILIA X POLTRONA FRAU
The second event (actually, without looking at my calendar, these are all probably out of order!) I headed along to was at the designer furnishings store Mobilia in Claremont. The celebration marked a collaboration with Poltrona Frau. Models lounged on beautifully made leather furnishings while a crowd of 200 something guests grazed and sipped Campari.
While we currently rent our apartment and toss around the idea of selling everything to pack up and move to Europe, I am definitely not in the market for beautiful long-term home decor. However, this is the place where decor dreams go from Pinterest worthy to reality.
SPARKLING WHITE SMILE LUNCH
Last weekend I met up with Ashleigh outside of The Beach Club in Cottesloe for a long table lunch with Sparkling White Smile. Neither of us knew who else was going, but it turned out of course to be fourty fellow Perth fashion blogger and creative friends! Greeted with a Gordon’s Pink Gin, the long table was decked out with the most beautiful, white floral installation from Matthew Landers. Perfectly suited to the theme of the day!
Alison Egan, founder of Sparkling White Smile talked us through how she began her business in 2014 and shared the journey so far. At only 24, Alison has grown her company in four years to employ 60 staff members, offering a range of mobile and in salon services Australia wide. I have never gone down the teeth whitening path before but am excited to give it a go soon.
As for our lunch? The Beach Club offered up a selection of shared entrees and mains with my standouts being the Wood-fired rotisserie Mount Barker chicken and Market fish with baby kale, confit baby fennel, pomegranate and almonds. Not to mention the beautiful side salads which I will definitely be ordering for lunch again there soon! I have one quick snap from the day below, still recovering from my cold/ flu, I wasn’t feeling so camera ready!
THE STANDARD SUMMER MENU
Now, I remember it, this beautiful lunch was a couple of weekends ago (where does the time go?)! Mario and I headed into Northbridge to one of our favourites, The Standard, for a long Sunday lunch to try the new menu. I have to say, there wasn’t a dish that I would not order again!
Sharing among a table of Perth foodies, we were all swapping notes, collective “mmmm”‘s as we sampled everything on the summer menu. Yes, I do love this job!! And, I could tell, so do they!
The Standard is all about Modern Australian food with Asian fusion touches. Offering a banquet menu, or individual serves, designed to share (or not to share). The space is bright, with an open garden section out the back and plenty of seating inside. It’s the kind of place I go to with friends any night of the week or head to for a long weekend lunch. Actually, they offer a ‘Lazy Sundays’ special, served for up to four people on a lazy susan out in the garden. Definitely a good choice!
That was actually just a snippet and I feel like this became the longest blog post in a while! Not true, I post long ones a lot! hahaha usually unintentionally!
Let me know in the comments below if you are interested in these sort of diary update / what I have been up to posts. I could probably pull together one a month, given we go to plenty of launches, events and fun little things that share what is happening in and around Perth.
If you prefer, I can try to remember to bring my camera with too! Let me know your thoughts on these more laid back phone pic posts! At some stage, I thought I’d also do a few style interviews with some of my friends who work in the fashion or beauty fields if that is of interest to you. Given I have direct access to them, I thought I could pick their brains!
