minimalistic sandals outfit idea with simple dress

The mid-year 2020 wardrobe favourites I’m loving on repeat that are on-trend essentials to repeat.

It has been brought to my attention that we are almost in the final month of winter here in Australia, and in the latter half of 2020. Woohoo! It snuck up on us all, so I wanted to share some mid-year 2020 wardrobe favourites when I came across this edit on Shopbop. Their 5 favourites are probably best for those lucky folk enjoying your summer in the Northern Hemisphere. However since it has been a milder week or two here, I’ve been wearing these all the same. (And I am damn happy about the lack of rain!).

Included below are an assortment of the outfits I’ve worn lately with a smattering of these staples that are currently trending but make for practical wardrobe additions none the less.

TKEES flip flops worn with a minimal dress

If my collection of Birkenstock sandals were any indication, it’s long been known that I just love a minimalist sandal outfit. For the record, I rotate my four pairs of Birkenstock Arizona’s daily, both at home and out and about. I just LOOOOVE them! (See an example below).

Most recently, I’ve added some very cool TKEES sandals and thongs (or flip flops) which I am wearing above. These minimalist leather sandals come in a range of neutral colours including various skin tones to really create a barely-there look. They are literally designed to “disappear” on the wearer for a truly effortless and comfortable look. I’ve been styling them with shorts, jeans, and minimalist dresses like the black one I have on here. If you want to directly shop the full TKEES range, click over to their store here and use my code JW10 to get 10% off your order. You are welcome.

On my radar are sandals from Definery, Staud and Mara & Mine. All too cool, somebody stop me!

Okay, don’t look too close here, the top pictured above isn’t exactly smocked, but it’s in the realm of cute crop tops and I really wanted to share this look! Just for that, I’ll include a pic below of one of my fave smocked tops by Reformation, which is currently sold out but there’s a really similar style available. Don’t worry, I’ve got your back!

Righto, so I love, love, love smocking details. Many years ago I had a bunch of smocked dresses and tops and I wish I knew where I’d put them. Maybe I donated some that were too colourful. Anyway, I always loved them for the simple reason that I can so easily get away without wearing a bra under any that have that smocking detail across the bust. If you are small in the bust area like me, then you might have discovered the same. Of course, they can be worn with a bra too, I personally avoid them if I can. Further than this, that elasticated smocking detail is super cute, so I really can’t get enough of it.

There are so many cute ones out and on my wish list. I love wearing them with jeans for that cute top and jeans outfit that seems so ready for anything. Find cute and more affordable ones by ASTR the label, girly but edgy options from For Love & Lemons, and last but not least, Australian cult favourite Faithfull.

This might be cheating a little or, you could choose to see that I’m happily repeating myself. Why? Because I’ve written about the baguette bag on more than one occasion. Find my whole dedicated blog post to the return of the iconic baguette bag here. Well, I love them is all I can say. They are small, sure, but they fit my phone, keys, lipstick, little camera, card wallet and sometimes that is all I need to carry.

By Far do my favourite ones, I have a couple of them, including the burgundy one I am seen carying above. On my radar is a cute printed baguette by Tory Burch and a woven baguette by Kayu that just screams spring summer. The full edit is below.

Well, I hope this post gives you a little inspiration. I’ve honestly still been a little slack on my posts up here this past month while I’ve set up filming more videos for both IGTV and YouTube. I feel like a bit of a broken record going on and on about them all the time, but it does take up a good chunk of time. Having said that though, I am into a better pattern and schedule now finally. Please let me know how you have been going and what life is looking for you in your corner of the world right now. Some parts of Australia are back in lockdown but I am really lucky here in Perth. Things are basically normal, so I am free to go back to shooting out and about. How are you going? Please let me know in the comments below.
