Lunch with Next at the beautiful Perth dining spot Wildflower.
LUNCH AT WILDFLOWER PERTH WITH NEXT
It has been quite some time since I’ve shared any sort of ‘event’ related post on Inspiring Wit. Though I am lucky to have gone to some beautiful events, I generally share them on my Instagram stories @inspiringwit. Knowing this would be a particularly beautiful event, I decided to bring along my camera and take photos. Though in truth, I ended up talking quite a lot so I mostly snapped photos of the beautiful food and table set up.
The lunch was at Wildflower, Perth’s most beautiful restaurant for Next. When the invite came through to attend it was really a no brainer from me. I’ve been lucky to have dinner at Wildflower and visit for a champagne and cheese tasting but never lunch. Besides, I have a few pieces from Next that I LOVE so I was keen to see their autumn collection.
Next is a UK based brand who ship (very quickly I might add) to Australia. Some time ago I shared a post on two ways to wear a navy suit from Next… see it here. That suit is still one of my absolute favourites. It is wool and serves me very well in winter.
Wildflower is situated on the rooftop of the Como Treasury. Serving contemporary dishes revolving around the indigenous ethos of six seasons with farmer and forager-driven menus. Makuru (June-July) is the season that brings the first heavy rains and sees the Scarlett banksia in bloom. Fire is very important during this season, a useful resource for food preparation and production, hunting and driving game. Fattier red-meat animals such as the yonga (kangaroo) and weitj (emu) are hunted at this time of year.
The five-course tasting menu kicked off with starters, bread, and Geraldton Kingfish. Followed with Jarrah Smoked Kangaroo, Jarrah Smoked Beetroot, Dry Aged Wagin Duck and a dessert of Roasted Baldivis Macadamias. It probably goes without saying that every dish was delicious! We were very very spoiled! And I am already thinking about going back for a long lunch next season. Can you blame me?
NEXT AUTUMN CAMPAIGN
The next morning I met up with the Next team and photographer Chris Mohen to shoot a little campaign. Keep an eye out for the Next autumn campaign images I’ll be sharing on my Instagram. I was really lucky to be a part of the shoot, picking out my edit of the best pieces from the autumn collection. The pieces I wore were all so lovely, choosing my usual casual neutrals with added pops of vibrant colour.
After the shoot, I picked out a few pieces which you will no doubt be seeing me in soon. Have you shopped with Next? I got a bunch of messages on Instagram from people who do and love them. Let me know if you are a fan!
