LITTLE HIGH

BOOHOO_DENIM_0015It has been a long weekend, I’ve been working, roadtesting jeans and making albums…

While I may have worked all long weekend, on Friday night Mario and I headed down for a nice night in Fremantle. Armed with a voucher we won at a charity event, we had a long dinner followed by a fairly chilly stroll around the harbour over peanut butter chocolate ice-cream (had to, right?). First though we squeezed in a couple of style shoots (this one shot on Little High Street), making use of the Fremantle buildings- which is my preferred place to shoot in Perth, but often too far out of the way to get to.

As anyone who has read this blog for a while will know I take my black jeans as my uniform, so when asked to pick something to share from the Boohoo Autumn Winter range, I thought I would give their denim a go. Priced just under $50, I would say that these are an affordable option for trying out the current torn-knee denim trend. The fit is pretty spot on and are overall a better quality than I imagined $50 would buy.

You may have noticed if you follow IW through Facebook that I have been uploading albums of photos taken from recent events, launches and so on. I often find that I cannot control the content of these- be it due to lighting etc, meaning the blog posts often feel a bit dry and out of place. I am always grateful to be invited to attend events and lucky that it gives me the excuse to dress up and hang out with gorgeous fellow bloggers but sometimes the content doesn’t quite fit the blog’s ethos or aesthetic entirely. I have decided that I will post and share some of these events on the Facebook page and reserve the blog posts for the right stories.

This year I will not be attending the Perth Fashion Festival-for the first time in years now, so will have a little less localised runway content coming your way, however personally I could not be more excited to shoot some amazing stories on our travels instead! If you read my old blog you will have seen some travel journals from my previous adventures and know that in seeing the world is where I feel the most comfortable. Far more comfortable than dumbstruck at an event trying to remember someone’s name while juggling a clutch, camera and glass of wine. (I know, these aren’t exactly tough problems right?!)

As for heading to Sydney for fashion week? I really want to go! This is the first year in which I haven’t had a big freelance design contract at the same time since I began blogging, but I think my savings are best put toward the big overseas venture. I look forward to being in a more confident position to secure some sponsorship to head over for the week. (Some time soon!) Each year I feel more and more proud to see the collections coming out of Sydney, our industry is small, tough and yet seriously exciting.

Is anyone else going?
