Explaining what the LiketoKnow.it shopping app is and why you should be using it. It’s like Instagram but for shopping (and minus the algorithm). Follow your fave bloggers and get direct links to the products they share.

WHAT IS LIKETOKNOW.IT AND WHY YOU SHOULD BE USING IT

If you are following me on Instagram, you might have seen me include info in my captions from time to time about how you can easily shop my outfits. Today I thought I would share more on how to do this by introducing you to the LiketoKnow.it app. Think of it as an Instagram, but for shopping.

If you follow a bunch of bloggers, you might have noticed them share links to @liketoknow.it and wondered what it is. I’ll go into it more below, but essentially it’s a shopping app that was created to give people the opportunity to shop the exact same products that their favourite content creators are wearing. So, rather than having to search the internet to find each item, you can shop it using the link that the content creator has provided.

For me, I get a lot of DM’s and comments with questions on where to find certain pieces and I often don’t have time to get back to people as quickly as I’d like. Making sure I share the outfits on LiketoKnow.it is the quickest and easiest way for you to shop my looks at any time. Also, if that exact item is sold out or low in stock, I try to find something similar to recommend. Often too, I try to find similar items at different price points, since our budgets are all different.

Option one: Shop my outfits on the LIKEtoKNOW.it app.

All you have to do is go to the app store, download the free LiketoKnow.it app and simply search inspiringwit and you will find every post from my Instagram and more, with all details directly linked. If you click on the item, it will take you straight to the website to shop it.

Simply head to my blog, inspiringwit.com in your browser and click the Shop my Instagram page. Shop my Instagram posts there as they are all linked with each item I am wearing in them. Of course, I link to the items in each of my blog posts on inspiringwit.com too.

Option 3: Take a screenshot.

This is so clever! When an image has been enabled on the LiketoKnow.it app, you can screenshot it and get the details via the app or in an email. Regardless of whether that image is on Instagram, Pinterest, or even Google images. They really make it so easy!

By the way, if you cannot find anything I am wearing or want sizing info, please send me a DM or comment on my latest post and I promise to get back as soon as possible.

The LiketoKnow.it App is a one-stop shopping source. You can search and discover products worn by people (ie not just the models). In a way, it’s like your Instagram feed but that you can shop each item someone is wearing.

One extra reason to use the app- I create extra content that I share on the LiketoKnow.it app that I don’t share on Instagram.

How to use the app:

On the app, search for and follow your favorite bloggers or Instagrammers so you never miss their posts. Alternatively, you can search for something specific to see it styled in different ways on different people. Search “wedding guest outfit”, “over-the-knee-boots”, “workwear” – whatever it is you’re looking for.

Save items for later:

If you aren’t ready to shop the item yet, you can add it to your wishlist for later by hitting the heart icon. You can also divide your wishlist up into categories, to keep things organised. For example, you might save ‘homewares’ to one list, ‘beauty’ to another and ‘fashion looks I love’ to another category. It’s not just for fashion either, there are products across everything, with ideas for fitness, home, swim, kids, workwear etc…

Bonus tip: Extra Sale Deals

Plus, LiketoKnow.it also set up sales events with top retailers. Ahead of the Black Friday / Cyber Monday rush, for US users there is an exclusive 12 days of Christmas sale event starting soon that have some awesome deals.  It’s worth downloading the app now so you don’t miss out!!

SO WHAT’S IN IT FOR ME, AS A CREATOR?

The benefit for me as the content creator or blogger is to make the products easily available to my community while earning a small commission through affiliate links. Without incurring any cost to the consumer, when you buy through one of the links I’ve created, the website you shop from thanks me with a small commission from the sale. So, I repeat, it costs you nothing, but it might be giving me a small (usually around $10 to 20) commission for doing so. And I make sure I trust the websites and brands I link to, doing my research first.

The websites and brands I link to:

LiketoKnow.it has thousands of partnerships with retailers like David Jones, The Iconic, Revolve, Sephora, etc. To put it simply, instead of linking directly to David Jones, I would link through RewardStyle (the company behind the LiketoKnow.it app). So that if you bought anything from David Jones via my link I would make a small commission. The commission varies for each company. It could be anything from 1% to 20% and it covers the whole basket, not just the item that’s been linked. Keep in mind, I don’t do anything just for the money, I do what feels right and is a good fit for me and my community of readers. I love and value you all too much to waste your time or hard-earned money! I want you to get the best value.

All in all, since I don’t make that much from the commissions, I see it as an extra bit of income which keeps me able to continue to create content like these outfit posts.

What a lot of people don’t realise is that if you searched ‘Sephora’ on Google and clicked on the first page (the advert) and bought something, Google would make a commission. The same goes for sidebars and banners on websites like The Urban List or product links on online magazines like Elle or Vogue.

WHY I USE LIKETOKNOW.IT AND WANTED TO SHARE IT WITH YOU

I think it’s a great program because if I like something and buy it using a link that another content creator provided, I’m more than happy for them to earn a commission. It’s not like I pay anything more than I would when not using their links.

And because the app has been monetized from day one as an affiliate network, there will never be an algorithm. So you just follow who you want to and they come up in your feed in chronological order. As I said, it’s like Instagram but for shopping and minus the algorithm.

TODAY’S CLASSIC JEANS AND WHITE BLOUSE OUTFIT DETAILS

Before I sign off, now that you know all about LiketoKnow.it I better share what I am wearing! This classic blue jeans and a white blouse outfit is one of my all-time favourite outfit ideas. I have talked about my love of Everlane before, including their sustainable denim line. The latest in my collection, which I am wearing here, are the ’90s Cheeky Straight Jeans. I got them in Medium Wash, Ankle length, size 24. They fit perfectly, without feeling too tight or stretching at the waist. In the past, I’ve worn size 25 but I realised I could easily size down. The cut is extra high-rise with a straight leg, just the way a classic ’90s jean should be. I’ve worn them as much as the change in weather has allowed me to lately. Often pulling them back on as soon as a hot day cools into the evenings.

I paired them with a blouse from Australian/ Bali based luxury bohemian brand Innika Choo. Which is made from the most beautiful soft cotton. I love the juxtaposition between non-stretch denim and flowing, soft cotton! I’m also wearing them with the classic Everlane Day Heels in suede (a good low heel comfy go-to style) and my new Staud snake print bag. You will see this bag up here and on my Instagram (@inspiringwit) a LOT! I love this bag!!
