MY 4 KEY GOALS FOR THE NEW YEAR

The key goals that I have to make a regular part of my life in the new year. And a fabulous outfit, that makes me feel like Audrey Hepburn. Do you expect any less?!

Really I have probably talked enough about outfits for the party season and what I plan to wear for Christmas. At some stage, I will definitely be pulling out this beautiful linen dress! New Australian label Leo and Lin created this stunning dress and I was so lucky to get my hands on it. Elegant, comfortable and so so chic, I feel like a million dollars in this beautiful dress. Honestly, I can imagine Audrey Hepburn herself would have adored this little black dress.

Today rather than go on about my dress of choice, or argue yet again how handy linen or little black dresses are to have in your wardrobe arsenal, I thought I would share the key goals I am going to have to apply like sunscreen in the New Year. To begin each new year with clear intentions I ask myself these questions.

This time around I came up with the following…

RELAX BISH (AHEM, I’VE BEEN WATCHING THE MINDY PROJECT)

The things I plan on doing in the course of the coming week are to switch off, allow myself to actually take a digital break and unwind a bit. Something I really have to address for the new year is to let go of being busy all the time. In my hunt to get through some of my personal work goals, I have taken on too much and let myself get a little burnt out. As my chiropractor tried adjusting me both times this week, she kept telling me I have to learn to relax. It is showing in my body that I am not sleeping or actually slowing down.

I should really listen.

Do you need to do the same?

SAY “NO” MORE OFTEN

In 2018, I am really going to have to remember this one. Part of the cause of being burnt out has been my saying ‘yes’ to more than I should. Perhaps I had been trying to prove to myself that I could take on that much and thrive? Though there is also uncertainty in being a freelancer, I tend to say yes just in case, nothing else works out. I may have to put up a reminder on my desk.

“No. Is a full sentence.”

UNPLUG & RE-CONNECT WITH READING

Once a year I find myself more tempted than ever to actually commit to the books I have added to my wishlist or cart. While I used to be the biggest bookworm, over the last few years I have noticed that I am less committed to my books. I start a bunch and never get through them. This year made my way through three of these completely but started them all.

Distracted? Impatient? Time-poor? All of those things? Guilty. But I set that up for myself and can turn it around. Needless to say, I am looking forward to less digital time and more book time as I await my annual order!!

And yes, since I am now finished with The Mindy Project, I did order both of Mindy Kaling’s books. If you have any further book recommendations, hit me up with them below, please!! Taking notes from you guys! Want me to share my reads on Inspiring Wit?

DECLUTTER

I have a ridiculous amount of new or near new clothing that is now folded into giant bags and tucked away in various storage spots in our apartment. That stuff has to go. Though I have donated a LOT (trust me on that!), the rest I should really try to sell. This is on my list to organise. Let me know if you are in Perth and want to come to a clothing sale soon!

Over to you guys:

What are you up to in the New Year? Got any goals you care to share with us? Are any of mine the same as yours? Got any tips for me on switching off and unwinding? I need your help guys! Leave me your best tips below.
