The key spring and summer pieces on my radar!
This month has gone by so quickly that it feels like a bit of a blur already. Last month I remember quietly celebrating my birthday, enjoying some seriously beautiful spring weather. It was so nice, I can not even describe how happy it makes me. Long phone calls with family and friends who I (sadly) don’t get to see much made it even better. Plus I got to breakfast with my good friends Emily and Adelle before eating way too much throughout the rest of the day! That’s a must do, right?
Spring has always made me happy!
Any change in season is a time where I spend extra time thinking about the must-have items I plan on wearing. I make some smaller orders for wardrobe updates and pester all of my fashion-minded friends about what they are coveting. This time I started early and now it is finally time that I can actually wear them!
On my radar for Spring/ Summer? Plenty!
WHAT I AM COVETING THIS SPRING
Cowrie shell jewelry – this was something I tried to find in Broome at the markets on my first trip but to no avail. Etsy came through with the goods though after I spent a good few days being inspired by the street style at Copenhagen Fashion Week! I’ve found some good options on Shopbop from Shashi too. Love this necklace!
Coloured Micro Sunglasses – Truth be told, this is a bit of a trend update for me, that I’d put off last summer, but since then, I’ve worn my round sunglasses so many times that I was ready for an update. I am hoping these will be just a bit seventies rock inspired with a touch of 90’s nostalgia. You can spot me wearing my Quay peach Showdown Sunglasses in my last blog post here.
Denim With A Side Detail – This wasn’t really even on my radar, to be honest. But in the interests of finding something just slightly different so I don’t repeat wear exactly the same jeans on a daily basis, I’ve recently added two pairs from Paige and Mavi with side stripe details. Also spotted a few good options from Mother. As ever, I still love my vintage washes, high waisted, straight cut jeans styles.
White kitten heel shoes – I have officially worn my black kitten heels all year so far, so it’s time for a lighter update for Spring /Summer. Perfect with jeans, slip skirts or tea dresses, when white sneakers don’t feel quite right. I was so happy I picked up these cute Ganni Sabine Slingback Pumps last month. But I do want them in black too!
Leopard print – Undeniably, animal prints are everywhere at the moment. And neutral animal print is something I am loving like the next fashion blogger. I might save a red animal print for later in summer as a more trend-based thing, I am not quite there yet. After six months of trying, finally managed to order one of the Realisation Par Naomi Wild Thing slip skirts before they sold out. I may have just ordered a tiger print skirt from Shopbop too, by my favourite UK brand RIXO London, having gotten so much wear out of my leopard one. Can’t wait for it to arrive!
Statement Straw Accessories– Earlier this year I bought the Cult Gaia bamboo circle bag and since decided to invest in another from the covetable brand. Find the larger style here. I am excited to have a statement bag to finish off my Spring wardrobe! The second piece I ordered was a Brixton straw beret– a summer update to the winter berets I’d been wearing that I think will be super cute with dresses or a white blouse and jeans. Finally, I picked up some wide-brimmed straw hats to go with dresses. Brixton are a good go-to brand for these.
White Dresses – You guys have to stop me from buying these!! I fell in love with the US brand LoveShackFancy and have been coveting every variation of their signature white dresses. So far I have one mini dress and one maxi ready to go for those hot days ahead. I may have been partially inspired by watching Picnic at Hanging Rock for this one!
Red and Blue Dresses – I just added another everyday blue dress to my wardrobe during the week and over the past month added two longer red ones. What can I say? I live in jeans in general but swap to dresses if I can as much as I can when it warms up. As much as I love black and white, a little colour is good to have on hand sometimes.
90’s inspired – slip dresses, strappy sandal heels, graphic tees, gold hoop earrings, mom jeans and Dr.Martens are all 90’s revival pieces that I was happy to welcome back into my wardrobe. I’m not so sold on the Clueless-inspired coloured plaids, ugly sneakers or bum bags. The whole ‘how I feel about 90’s inspired trends’ topic deserves its own blog post, so I am currently penning that one to follow in a week or so.
Scrunchies were something I’d declared I’d never wear again, but I am going back on that one. I love wearing my hair tied up but it can get boring, which is where scarves and scrunchies add a little bit of interest. I just ordered a set of silk scrunchies from Slip. They came in perfect colours for me! I’d seen non-silk ones on sale for around $10-15, the Slip ones are $40 for a set of three silk ones. Watch this space to see how I wear them!

After my massive wardrobe sale last weekend (read about it here) I am happy to have more room! Not to fill with all new things, of course, but to enjoy my classic curated pieces. But, just a tiny bit to embrace some new things. I wouldn’t really be a fashion blogger if I didn’t, right?! hehehe!
