I recently visited the beautiful new Perth luxury hotel Como The Treasury for the ultimate spa treatment at Como Shambhala and lunch at Post.
COMO THE TREASURY
I was recently invited to visit the stunning Como The Treasury on St Georges Terrace in the heart of the CBD to experience the Como Shambhala signature treatment and later have a delicious lunch at Post.
COMO The Treasury is a 48 room contemporary luxury hotel in Perth’s newly revitalised historic heart. Occupying state buildings dating from the mid 19th century, COMO The Treasury opens up the city with new experiences by way of two restaurants, a bar and world renowned COMO Shambhala wellness therapies. Designed by Kerry Hill, COMO The Treasury also provides an elegant, restful base from which to explore the wilder lures of Western Australia.
PERTH LUXURY AT COMO THE TREASURY
The extensive Como Treasury foyer offers relaxed spaces to sit, have a drink from the impressive drinks menu or grab a coffee and tuck into the morning paper. Some of the most beautiful hotel interiors I have had the pleasure to discover, the design compliments the existing heritage space. Perth’s 140 year old State Buildings, have been lovingly restored and given an entirely new lease on life after having been boarded up and abandoned for so many years.
There are 48 elegant guest rooms and suites featuring original high ceilings, cornicing, and balconies. Facilities include two restaurants, a bar, lounge and library, which together provide a social hub for the city. Holistic therapies are available at COMO Shambhala Urban Escape, as well as a gym and 20m indoor pool. (The pool looks incredible! Easily the most beautiful hotel pool in Perth).
COMO SHAMBHALA SPA EXPERIENCE
I could not have been more excited to spend 75 minutes relaxing with a full body massage, particularly to give my muscles a bit of loving after having been pushing them so hard over the past weeks. Heading down the hallway to the COMO SHAMBHALA, I was greeted and took in the beautiful relaxing aroma of essential oils. I was shown into one of the massage rooms and treated to the beautiful COMO SHAMBHALA signature massage- a nurturing massage using our signature blended massage oil to calm the mind and rejuvenate the body.
I definitely enjoyed every relaxed calming minute. This is honestly one of the best massage treatments I have ever had and I could not recommend it highly enough. This is a beautiful way to give back to yourself and show some self-love and wellness to your body. We all deserve a little time to unwind and take care of our bodies, it was such a beautiful experience.
COMO Shambhala specialises in hands-on healing, combining traditional Eastern techniques with cutting-edge advances in holistic healthcare. They offer a variety of different massage modalities and facials for restorative skincare. Some of the therapies employ COMO Shambhala products, while others benefit from specific partnerships with like-minded brands.

After my massage, I met Mario for a beautiful lunch at Post, Como The Treasury’s all day osteria. Post is named after its location, the franking room of the original Perth General Post Office in the State Buildings.
Located on the ground floor Post is a convivial spot serving modern Australian dishes with a European influence. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week. This modern Australian bistro sources its food locally and dishes have a French influence, overseen by Head Chef Kim Brennan. Born in Perth, Western Australia, Kim Brennan returns to his home city as Head Chef of Post at COMO The Treasury. Following time in London at Notting Hill Brasserie, he relocated to Sydney for a role at Becasse. In 2008, Kim opened Flying Fish restaurant at Tokoriki Island Resort and returns from Fiji to his home country.
Also on the menu are healthy classics by COMO Shambhala Cuisine.
We decided to dine partly from the COMO Shambhala menu, which is designed with wellness in mind and partly from the Post menu. We had…
Shambhala fresh juices
Oysters, cracked pepper, and shallot dressing
SOBA NOODLE Chilled raw kingfish, wakame, cucumber, and avocado salad with spiced tamari soy dressing
Local white fish, gremolata, summer beans, buttermilk vinaigrette
BIG SALAD Rainbow of shaved raw vegetables with apple cider vinegar mustard dressing
THE STATE BUILDINGS
The State Buildings also house a number of excellent retailers, amongst them Telegram Coffee, a coffee stand run by Luke Arnold, offering meticulously crafted coffee using the best locally roasted beans and expert techniques. Incorporating a 135-year-old crank wheel salvaged from the State Buildings, you’ll find Telegram Coffee nestled into a handmade coffee cart just behind the Postal Hall in Postal Place. How cool is that?! We missed Luke after he left Mary Street Bakery, so we were happy to grab one of his coffee’s (which had a very long line at all times!).
Some of the other businesses in the State Buildings include Clean Slate, who we have discussed before make wonderful natural skincare, Flowers By Anera, combining dramatic foliage with earthy blooms, Angela Broads’s floral arrangements are organic and striking, making for unique gifts and event centrepieces. Aurelio Costarella, prominent Australian fashion house has opened its new Perth city flagship boutique within the State Buildings to house the designer’s ready-to-wear collection alongside a never-before-seen assemblage of couture pieces. Plus there are plenty of bars and restaurants that we will have to check out soon.
