The blazer I’ve been wearing non-stop and how to style it with a bralette for dinner.
WHO I TURNED TO FOR NEW STAPLES POST-BABY
I recently got in many new staple pieces from my all-time favourite, Everlane. A go-to for essentials and the perfect place to build a capsule wardrobe that will last for years. I have been sharing looks from Everlane on the blog for many years now. Starting way back with their denim, which is still going strong.
After having gone up a size post-baby, I struggled to find anything that felt like it fit or that felt ‘right’ on me. It did my head in. I would already be running late any time we went anywhere, given I was now juggling nursing and getting the car loaded up with any baby gear we would need. The last thing my already tired brain wanted to deal with was what to wear. Let alone the small struggle I’ve been having with accepting my new size and shape. Until I am given the full all clear to work out properly again, I have to rest and allow my body to heal. It’s fine, as I am so proud of what my body did, make a human, but there are times I feel uncomfortable. I can tell it will take me some time to feel truly like myself again.
One thing I knew I could do to help with this whole situation was to invest in some new staples that I could wear now and into the future. One of the first places I knew to shop with to guarantee quality staples was Everlane.
Over on my YouTube channel, I have shared a haul with the majority of these pieces. I actually have a few more things arriving this week, so I will probably share another update with some new styling ideas soon. Make sure to subscribe to the Inspiring Wit TV channel so you don’t miss those.
CHIC OVERSIZED BLAZER OUTFIT IDEA
I have shot a bunch of outfit ideas with the new pieces. And as much as I love sharing those on Instagram, I always have a lot of photos! Naturally, I miss blogging too, so I am going to aim to share as many looks as I can, given I have limited windows to write any posts while my little bundle of joy is napping! Starting with this chic oversized blazer outfit idea which was one of the first looks I wanted to wear out to dinner. So far I think Mario and I have only been out to dinner once after work together, while Navy was with her grandparents.
The blazer is perfect! I went into this in the video, but I wanted an oversized blazer that was a little more boxy, without swallowing my frame. I’d compare this one to The Frankie Shop blazers but at a lower price point. I cannot speak to the quality of The Frankie Shop pieces, as I have not tried them. But this Everlane 80’s Blazer is perfection! The quality is just so strong, the cut is exactly what I was after and the fabric is lovely. If you are after a timeless piece that lends sartorial credit, this is it.
So much so that I ordered this one in another colour too. The beige tone blazer many people made comments about yesterday while I was out and about wearing it. A handful of people stopped me to ask where it was from. If that is any indicator of a decent piece of clothing to you, there you have it!
WEAR IT WITH: THE BRALETTE AND HIGH WAISTED TROUSERS
I paired the blazer this time around with a simple bralette. Any bralette or similar cami style top would equally do the trick to achieve this style. I think it is all about the v-plunge.
These chic high waisted wide leg trousers are also from Everlane. The khaki/ black print are waitlist only now, since they sold out very fast. However, I do have some good news. The Way-High Drape Pants come in five colour ways, and the other options are still in stock. I now have four out of five. That is HOW GOOD they are!!! I am wearing one pair as I type.
The 80’s blazer also comes in this check print, so you could create a matching look want a printed suit. I loved that the print is a simple classic, it reminded me of some vintage pants I already owned.
MORE OUTFIT IDEAS ON YOUTUBE
Before I have the time to share any other looks with this oversized blazer, the trousers or anything else I got in from Everlane, you can check out some of them on Instagram @inspiringwit or my YouTube channel. Find the links below to shop the pieces, as always. I’ll be back as soon as I can with more inspiration. If you have any questions for me, fire away below. In terms of sizing, I have gone up from a US 0 to a 2. I’d say right now I am a true size small.
