BOOTS FOR AUTUMN & WINTER

A quick boots edit and sharing the many ways I wear my favourite pairs, year in, year out. Get ahead of Autumn and Winter weather one step at a time.

KEEP CALM, IT’S BOOTS SEASON

One of the biggest ‘sections’ in my wardrobe is dedicated to boots. And it has been for some time now. I recall at our last big community clothing sale here in Perth, I laid out two massive tubs crammed with shoes. The majority of them? You guessed it, boots. Double ups, colours I rarely wear, boots I’d frankly forgotten I’d ever had… they all either went to a good home or were donated to charity to live on for someone else.

For my own collection, there is a number that I have kept repeating year after year. I wanted to share some of those in this post since they are so versatile and worthy of investment. As we head into Autumn and Winter in the Southern Hemisphere, I usually find myself adopting a new boot or two. Plus I am frequently asked for boot recommendations so behold my top few below.

BOOTS FOR AUTUMN & WINTER

THE DETAILED PAIR

First up? I can’t go past my favourite studded buckled ankle boots from Chloe. They have served me well for years, and I don’t for a second regret buying them. At the time, they were more than I’d probably spent on any one pair of shoes. Though, in terms of cost per wear, I’ve made that back. Of course, this pair are still top sellers, so luckily you can still buy them. Not up to spending that much? Not to worry, this style is all about finding something with a little extra detail, like the buckles, studs, or pattern.

THE CLASSIC BLACK BOOT

The simple pointed toe black boot with a mid heel is one that you will never regret. These have also been top sellers for Everlane for years. I remember wanting a pair, or a similar pair from Acne Studios for the longest time. They are such a good staple to wear with jeans, pants, skirts or dresses. Opt for a minimal outfit or go for something busy.

THE BUCKLED BOOT

You are seeing a pattern here aren’t you? To be honest, the boots I reach for the most are largely similar black pointed low heel ankle boots. They serve me so well! I have to often force myself to wear something different. This Toga Pulla pair have been with me since 2015 and I’ve worn them through North and South Africa, all across Australia and across Europe too. They are my travel boots. Why? I wanted something that I knew would go with everything, be sturdy, have a little detail and weren’t as expensive as my Chloe studded boots. I have all of my boots kitted out with grip soles to make them last longer. This was particularly helpful across cobblestones. As you can see below, I wear them with everything. And I could have added a ton of other outfits to show their versatility!

THE KNEE HIGH BOOT

A little bit seventies, I love a knee-high or over-the-knee boot. I’ve collected a couple over the years and am wanting to add a tan, white, or brown pair this year to my collection. Or, all three! Haha. I’ll need more dedicated room if I see that through! I love them to extend the wear of my mini skirts and dresses into the cooler months. Alternatively, they are chic worn with a midi skirt, particularly if it has a split to peak through. The first pair I am wearing below are amazing Bared mock croc boots that arrived right at the beginning of summer and I’ve been dying to wear them since. How cool is that notch detail at the knee? They are so comfortable and also come in burgundy red too. I want them to make these in a smooth leather tan. Fingers crossed they do! The suede over the knee pair have served me for a few years now, I can never go past a black suede version of any of my favourite shoe styles!

THE LIGHT BOOTS

I had to add a cream pair or two to my collection a few years ago. Why? I simply needed to make sure I wore something other than black. Again, this exact pair have sold out, since they were from a 2018 collection, but I did find the snake print version of them here. Though I don’t reach for them as often as black, a light colour like cream can truly brighten up your whole look. I’ve found some beautiful light boot options below. A tan or light snake print are also great alternatives.

THE KITTEN HEEL BOOT

Another non-black pair! You proud? I shall warn you, this exact Everlane pair they have stopped making but I love a kitten heel boot so I had to share. Actually, they still have this pair in black, just not the cream. I love a low heel.
