NAILS_LIPS_5557The lip and nail shades on rotation for the summer months.

NAILS_LIPS_5543In the last beauty post I talked about hitting up Mecca to get myself a few cosmetic products to update my very limited collection. I think I have since found a renewed love of cosmetics, as I have been playing around a bit, watching beauty vlogs on YouTube and researching the next products on my wish list. So I thought I would do a little story on a few of my faves before I go buying anything new!

As I may have mentioned before, I grew up with my Mum selling Nutrimetics, so we always had catalogues in our house and each year I looked forward to the $10 lipstick drive- during which I would try and buy as many colours as I could get. I was also watching Audrey Hepburn films on repeat, so naturally wanted to wear elegant lipsticks all the time. Nothing has changed (I still watch the films), I love a bold red or orange, a dark moody berry colour and a lighter coral. I am currently hunting down the perfect coral so if you have seen one, please leave me a comment below!

I have a love for Matte lips- I am just not a gloss girl, despite many years of toting the Lancome Juicy Tubes, I never felt at home in them. The trouble with the matte finish is the crazy drying out of the skin- so priming them is vital. At the moment I use the MAC lip primer before applying any of the lipsticks which also helps to make sure they don’t feather.

I have to admit I am pretty lazy when it comes to using a lip pencil- it really can change the colour, hold the application and define the shape but I can never really be bothered spending money on them!

Another fun way to add colour! I am not into overdoing the nails, I have had fun nail art a couple of times, but honestly it isn’t really me, I prefer to keep things simple. I don’t have a huge range of colours, I gave a lot away and kept the basics. I love the Chanel nail polishes but that is probably just for the packaging really, ordinarily I will use O.P.I or Butter London. I have one or two glittery polishes in case I ever feel a bit festive, but mostly prefer to stick to a bold colour or neutral. The O.PI. Matte topcoat is a lot of fun, and I use the top and base coat to begin and end.
