Neutral outfit ideas wearing chic pieces from Revolve. Key pieces to create five casual looks that can go from weekend days at home to a dinner date and more.
Whilst I am spending most of my days at home chasing after a baby who crawls VERY fast in every direction, I am generally in my most basic lounge or activewear uniforms. As you can imagine, having an almost eight-month-old who is keen to explore everything, means I am more often than not, down on the floor crawling after her, or playing. Comfort is as such, critical. So on the flip side, when I get a chance to go out somewhere I am eager to dress up my casual gear just a little. In today’s post, I have left the loungewear aside for outfits I’ve been wearing from a recent Revolve haul.
As you know, Revolve is one of my go-to’s and has been for years. They have a HUGE range, but I am still about finding key pieces I can put to work in my wardrobe. Below, I have five outfits, let’s imagine one for every weekday (if I weren’t in the yoga gear!) each featuring an essential from my Revolve order styled up with neutrals. The looks toe the line between casual and slightly dressy in the way that I love to dress most of the time, with extra details to add polish.
Let’s get into it.
5 NEUTRAL OUTFIT IDEAS FROM REVOLVE
TONAL LEATHER SHORTS OUTFIT
I’ve shared a variation of this look in the past, last time with an all-green outfit, refresh your memory back here. I love the combination of leather shorts with a tonal knit. It’s slightly unexpected but totally works, particularly over spring or autumn days where it’s chilly but you can still just get away with bare legs. My kind of days! To take this tonal thing one step further I added a pair of creamy ankle boots and broke it up with a classic black bag. Let me know below if this is your kind of look too.
I tell you what, these leather shorts are AMAZING! They also come in classic black, so if the cream colour is a little more out there for you, I highly recommend checking out the black. Plus, since I placed my order, I’ve seen they have gone on sale, so do not hesitate! As you will see below, I’ve worn them a couple of ways already. They are so damn cool!
Okay, so before I go too far, I just want to share a little something about this look. I am looking at these photos feeling a tiny bit self-conscious. Why? Well, I am still breastfeeding so I am very aware that my bust looks a little different to how I am used to seeing it. My waist is also not as trim as it was.
Sounds weird perhaps, but I don’t tend to have time to stop and look in the mirror all that often these days. So seeing these photos I am seeing my shape in a way I am not really used to. Did I mention that all of my time is being devoted to keeping a crawling baby out of any pot plants/ opening up drawers she shouldn’t etc? Cause, in reality, that is where I am at. The babyproofing is still happening bit by bit. That said, I did make a little human, which still blows my mind! Kindness and appreciation is key here.
THE LONG-SLEEVED CROP KNIT TOP
Back to this outfit. Which, is definitely midriff-baring and could make me feel awkward, but I love this crop top so much! It’s such a chic knit, I love the ribbed fabric and tie-up detail with the keyhole and wooden beading. The beige neutral is so nice to pair with high-waisted neutral trousers or jeans.
Alternatively, given the neutral tone, it would be a cute base for a bright outfit, like a coloured suit, or with a knit or silky skirt. As always, I love this with added gold jewellery and a simple strappy heel to elevate the look. To wear this one another way, the design is made so the ties can be tied as a halter detail, with the beading at the back. It is such a flattering style, I can’t wait to wear it this way too. Need another layer? I’d layer this one under an oversized blazer.
THE BLACK TWEED CROPPED JACKET & LEATHER SHORTS
Oh, how I love this jacket!! It was the first piece I saw when I went onto Revolve the other week and could not stop thinking about it. Earlier in the year, I’d been looking at a couple of black cropped tweed jackets that were equally chic but just missed the mark somehow. This one ticked all my boxes. The exaggerated sleeve, cropped cut, gold buttons and simple collar, it is just right.
A new label exclusive to Revolve, Assignment marries preppy, chic and cool with a modern twist. Some of the styles give me Clueless vibes (it is even called the Dionne jacket after Cher’s bestie) while others are slightly Jackie O in that old-school Chanel kind of way but far cooler, sexier too. This black tweed comes in a dress, bootie shorts, high-waisted pants, a mini skirt and an alternate jacket. It’s all super cool. They nailed the assignment.
I saw these pieces together right away. The creamy leather shorts, a simple white tank top and the cropped jacket. It’s cute, grounded with an ankle boot but would look amazing with a cute heel, or long cowboy boot. I have worn the jacket already with high-waisted trousers (the ones in the next outfit), sneakers and a simple white t-shirt and look forward to styling it with high-waisted blue jeans or a cute black mini skirt.
THE ORGANIC COTTON CROPPED T-SHIRT
I’ve shared this in a post last year, but I love that Revolve feature some brands with a sustainable focus. Tularosa, already one label I’ve been wearing for years, has its Green label, with organic cotton or recycled fabrics. The label focuses largely on essentials like tank tops and t-shirts to wear with everything as base layers or on thier own. This soft cropped organic cotton t-shirt is a beauty! Exactly what I needed, it is the right length to wear with a high waisted pant, allowing a moment for a breezy, untucked top. If you somehow aren’t in the market for another white t-shirt, it also comes in beige and sage green. Truly an essential, I love the quality and drape.
Had to include a little photo with my bestie. She’s so cute.

THE ESSENTIAL TANK TOP LAYER
Last but by no means least, I am here to introduce you to the organic cotton tank tops again from Tularosa Green. This essential white tank is my second, I ordered the beige alternate last year and wore it so often. I thought I’d get a white one for good measure but it also comes in a dusty pink, charcoal, butter yellow and sage green. A ribbon jersey with 3% stretch, the organic cotton is so nice, I couldn’t rate this higher. Go it alone or wear under jackets as a base layer, it is one to reach for multiple times in a week.
