Everyday style and why ugly is only in the eye of the beholder (until their mind’s come around to the correct way of thinking!).
LOVE LETTERS TO ALL YOU FRENS
Hey all, I hope you are doing well. I am writing this post as a bit of a letter format, purely thanks to a bit of writer’s block. Lately, I have had all of these images and outfits I’ve been excited about and want to share with you but when it came down to it, they weren’t giving me much to write about. I wonder too if sometimes you would prefer for me to give just a little glimpse of the story and not go on and on.
Personally, I love sitting down to read blog posts, but I know it is something that I schedule a bit of time for, which I assume isn’t something everyone does.
Earlier this week I sent out a new issue of our subscriber newsletter and loved writing that. I try to make that a letter format and love reading your email replies! If you haven’t subscribed already, find the subscribe box to enter your email on the side panel. I would love to say I send them once per month but so far it’s not been that frequent!
UGLY IS A BIT MUCH
The funny thing about this outfit is that when I shared it on Instagram so many people loved it, which I really wasn’t expecting. Truth be told, we just caught a moment of the afternoon sun as we ran errands and I tested out my new Birkenstocks. This denim-like pair are my third and have been coping a beating! After my chiropractor gave me yet another lecture on wearing flat shoes I have been wearing my Birkenstocks at every opportunity. I even convinced Mario and he got a pair too. So he can officially eat his own words after all the years he tormented me saying my shoes were ugly. :)
I most often share outfits on Inspiring Wit that I deem ‘worthy of photographing’ but in reality, I can probably share more of my everyday style too. This may not always mean I am dressed up with heels or have my hair styled, heck, I am planning to even share more while wearing my glasses! Expect a few more good old everyday looks. Birk’s, messy hair, a very old handbag and all!
Just on that point, I love mixing old and new as much as I do high and low. Given my job, I am gifted a number of clothing items and it can seem like I have new things each week. I know I am extremely lucky to be working doing what I love and sharing my love of fashion, beauty and travel with you all. Trust me when I admit that my closet has a heap of old to very old (a decade+) pieces that I wear every day along with the new gear. Something I really hate is how disposable fashion can be. It isn’t in my nature to buy cheaply made items to wear as a one-off before ditching them. Instead, I am always looking for quality over quantity. Most often these aren’t trend based so that I will continue to wear them for years. The rule is generally 70% wearable neutrals and 30% fun stuff for a splash of personality. Works for me and honestly, you have to embrace your own style.
You do you.
