The skincare and makeup products I have been loving lately. My winter beauty edit. (Warning, it’s a massive one!)
MY WINTER BEAUTY EDIT
My house is beauty product central right now, so I thought I would take some time to share what I am using and loving for winter. I’m not going to go into a big review on each product, cause you don’t have all day. All the same, these are some of the amazing gems that have been getting me through winter and that I have fallen in love with.
ON THE GO
I do this thing where I run late in the morning. All the time. This is thanks to the need to check my emails, do some work on my social media channels, schedule for the day, note making or edit images. While I could get up and not look at any of these things in the early morning and instead get my day started with hair, makeup, breakfast and so on, I almost always reach for my phone first thing.
It’s a bad habit. It is also one that inevitably leads to my throwing a makeup bag together to take with me for the day. While I get my skin cleansed, prepped and ready to go, I am often leaving the house barefaced.
Hence the regular times where I will literally do my makeup at a cafe before breakfast or when I get into the studio. You might have seen this over on Instagram.
THE ON THE GO WINTER BEAUTY EDIT
How do you like that cheesy pic above? hehe. Truth be told I do tend to get confused double takes from patrons and waiters but I just don’t care.
Freeing myself of caring about what other people think, saves a lot of wasted energy.
- Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base
Rich but non-greasy, this is a moisturising primer that acts as the perfect base for foundation.
- Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks
These ARE as good as people hype them up to be!
- Bobbi Brown Highlighting Powder
With pearl reflective pigments, this one doesn’t settle into fine lines which makes me very happy!
- Bobbi Brown Glow Sticks
A lightweight highlighter that I can’t stop using. While it is winter, I still want a sun kissed glow.
- Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara
It’s obvious I’ve gotten a Bobbi Brown haul lately isn’t it? This one creates thin and feathery long lashes.
- Estee Lauder The Brow Multi Tasker
Three in one, this one is so good for being on the go. With an angled pencil, brush and powder.
- Tom Ford Lip Contour Duo
I have two of these, in shades 05 I’ll Teach You and 02 Fling It On and I love them. Tom Ford is a genius.
- MAC Liptensity
A intensely pigmented lipstick which I have in a perfect nude shade Doe.
- Tory Burch Love Relentlessly Eau de Parfum
Finally I tend to chuck in a perfume in case I need it later on in the day, this one is feminine and warm.
So many products! Told you it was an explosion! We are needing a new office set of drawers to keep all of these in and not filling up my desk and bathroom. And yes, I completely get that I am insanely lucky. This is the most epic winter beauty edit ever!
- La Mer Eye balm Intense
I am obsessed! I wake up prettier for using and love the metal applicator for a quick eye massage day and night.
- La Mer The Moisturising Soft Cream
Only the most incredible moisturiser ever. The hype is real. My dream of trying these are now a reality.
- La Mer Treatment Lotion
A silky hydrator which locks in moisture and evens skin tone.
- Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Oil
Waking up after using this at night I notice how smooth my skin feels.
- Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask
A treatment I have put on after a day spent inside by the heater. My skin is all plump in the morning.
- Jo Malone Lime Basil and Mandarin Candle
A huge fan of Jo Malone, this one is my first candle from them. I have been using it in the office non-stop.
- Tory Burch Jolie Fleur Lavande Eau de Parfum
As a self-confessed lavender-aholic I was so excited about this fragrance and it is so dreamy.
- Aveda Facial Dry Brush
Since the lymphatic system does not drain itself, I am an avid dry body brush and scrub user.
ON MY BEDSIDE TABLE
While I love to keep things to a minimum, these end up on my bedside all the same. It still looks neater than my partner’s bedside table. How is it that boys can be so messy? If anyone can shed some light, please do so below!
- Glasshouse La Maison Candles
I am so obsessed with this line of candles. They are developed by leading French perfumers and it shows. The scents are amazing!!
- Glasshouse Room Fragrance
As we live in a small apartment, which is quite open plan, I like having room scents to make sure kitchen smells don’t end up over powering the other rooms. This one is so luxe.
- Scented Drops
Another room scent, I tend to move this guy from the bathroom to my bedside regularly.
- Estee Lauder Pure Colour Love Lipsticks
These are always being emptied out from my various handbags.
ON MY DESK
This week I got a delivery of locally made Perth products from various companies who are all stocked in the CBD at King St Collective. These have since been making themselves at home on my desk, pictured above. Among some lifestyle and jewellery products was this soy based Flame It Candle and Pure Home Body Room Spritzer. I had to add them to my winter beauty edit!
AT THE STUDIO
These days you can find me dividing up my work days either in our home office or at the studio. Here, I cart in daily my basket of goodies. Among these, note pads, tech equipment and the following:
- Aerin Rose Hand and Body Cream
Roses are another favourite of mine, because I am garden obsessed. I also love to have non-dry hands, so this is a must.
- MAC Matte Lipstick
Not at all kidding when I say I have at least five lipsticks with me at any given time. Love a nude shade, this one is Velvet Teddy.
- MAC Prep and Prime Lip
The first step if you are wearing a highly pigmented lipstick, this makes sure it doesn’t dry and crack your lips.
- Tom Ford Black Orchid Eau de Parfum
This luxurious fragrance is rich, glamorous and timeless. It is without a doubt my new favourite fragrance.
SOMEWHERE IN MY HOME
By now you can guess that there are products everywhere, despite my efforts to keep them all together. Does this happen to you? It can’t just be me! Right?? Below, are even more moisturising products that couldn’t not be included in a winter beauty edit!
- Clinique Pep Start Hydroblur Moisturiser
This is a kind of mattifying moisturiser I use during the day. It wakes up my skin and acts as a good primer.
- Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief
Very quick to absorb and reduces fine lines. Can not argue with that!
- Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion+
The last time I used this was a mini size I got when buying lip products in high school. I loved Clinique back then but for some reason or another hadn’t replaced them after I finished them. This one is lightweight and strengthens the skin.
THE FINAL WORD ON MY WINTER BEAUTY EDIT
I hope you have enjoyed my winter beauty edit. Any of these products on your wish list? Please ask me any questions about them below. Have you tried something? Spotted a favourite? Let me know in the comments. I look forward to hearing your thoughts!
There is an OVERLOAD of products in here and I haven’t talked about them all, but these are the main things I am using at the moment. With more to come so stay tuned and keep up in the mean time @inspiringwit on Instagram. And of course, make sure to say hi! I love hearing from you all.
