I MUST BE IN FLIGHT MODE
This is yet another post I am typing on a flight, which seems to have become one of my favourite places to write. Perhaps it is the gentle hum of the plane engine or the reflective nature of leaving one place and heading to another. Not unlike a Sunday evening, during which I tend to sit down and note-take the tasks of the week ahead. Scheduling, updating my to-do lists, meal planning seems to put me in the right head space for the week to come. Flying does much the same.
This time around, I am on a short flight back to Perth from Broome, where we spent a long weekend with friends for their wedding. I can not tell you how much the break in the warm sun was welcome. Particularly after what came to be four weeks of low temperatures and rainfall that wouldn’t quit. To slip into a cotton or silk dress and little else was a respite from the seemingly never-ending days of jeans and knitwear on rotation.
For those of you who have heard little of Broome, it is a small town on the North West coast of Australia, a short flight to Indonesia. It was my first visit but as we have another coming up in six weeks, I kept the exploring to a minimum, opting to enjoy a resort stay and some downtime. This is why I am not really putting together much in the way of travel advice or a diary. Plus to be completely transparent, I contracted a cold days before the trip which by now has seemingly become a low key chest infection. I am hoping that you can’t tell in these images that I am skipping around with energy thanks to the Sudafed I’d just taken.
What I can tell you is that Broome is known for pearl farming, mangroves, a long beach and as I soon discovered, it’s mango smoothies. Our group ventured out pre-wedding to the weekend markets to give the famed smoothies a try and I tell you what, I will be opting to do the same next time!
Pictured here, I have on my favourite new LoveShackFancy dress that I’d been watching for weeks on Shopbop before it was restocked in my size. Perfect for a warm, summery day, I am forever crushing on little white dresses. They are without a doubt one thing I gravitate toward and tend to hold onto for longer. They are perfect for showing off a tan (if unlike me, you actually remember to apply a faux tan) and basically go with any shoe combination you want. Just add a summery bag and you are looking fresh as a daisy and ready to rock and roll. (Or in my case, cough and take a midday nap! Keeping it real folks! hehe).
Since it is the height of summer in the northern hemisphere, Shopbop have a white summer dress edit up here. With so many to choose from I can officially say that I am tempted to snatch up one more white summer dress for my next Broome trip. But which one??
