Light layers, bare legs, knits, and denim… one of my favourite times of the year, when I can wear anything. The transitional weather looks I am loving.
You might have seen some of these looks over on Instagram @inspiringwit of late. You may also notice if you follow me there, that I have been making an effort to try and post twice a day. Since the end of last year, I noticed a drop in my Instagram reach, which I haven’t really talked about here before. As much as I love the platform, I have always maintained that this little corner of the internet (my blog) was my priority. Last weekend, my account on Instagram was hacked and that was pretty scary. At the end of the day, it is a little out of my control, so I try not to feel too disheartened by it all.
I wanted to bring it up here, to say a thank you to those of you who do kindly follow along on my journey. Trust me, I am so very grateful. Messages and comments have been so supportive, I am glad, if nothing else, to have that way of connecting.
TRANSITIONAL WEATHER LOOKS
In both the northern and southern hemisphere right now, there are days of sunshine and days of chill and rain. Somehow, these days are some of my favourites. Gone is the winter chill for us, at long last. I love being able to layer on a coat, still make use of my knits and sweaters but equally make the most of my dresses. As I start the shuffle to pack away heavier coats giving way for a couple of new dresses, I thought I’d touch base on what I have been wearing lately.
But back to those transitional weather looks. Chunky cozy knits, ruffles, frills, polka dots and military details are all on my list right now.
THE CHUNKY KNIT
I picked up this incredible knit after the launch of the new Jac + Jack Perth store. It was love at first sight. Though there were so many gorgeous knits in store, this one was so beautiful I had to have it. A chunky knit with a v-neck is something I can wear with my mom style jeans or over skirts and slip dresses.
WEARING: JAC AND JACK KNIT, MOM JEANS, MIDAS SLIDES, FURLA BAG
THE POLKA DOT WRAP DRESS
Somehow, I have either found or adopted a whole section of polka dot print pieces into my wardrobe of late. This wrap dress was something I noticed as soon as I walked into the Forever New store last week. The colour, warm tone, and ruffles are so flattering, I knew it’d be great for the transitional weather with a leather jacket and boots or without.
WEARING: FOREVER NEW POLKA DOT DRESS, ZAC POSEN MINI BAG, FOREVER NEW HEELS
THE RUFFLE HEELS
Ruffles are certainly trending madly at the moment. These heels, which are probably higher than I would tend to go for, were so fun, I couldn’t resist. Of course, my first instinct was to wear it with a tougher rock and roll inspired jeans and tee look.
WEARING: JAC AND JACK T-SHIRT, BOHEMIAN TRADERS CROP FLARE JEANS, JO MERCER RUFFLE HEELS, ZAC POSEN BAG, ISABEL MARANT BELT (SIMILAR HERE)
THE MILITARY BLAZER
This isn’t exactly a new look. Blazer, jeans, sneakers and a tee are a pretty standard combo for me. This fitted blazer is a recent addition to my black blazer collection. I love the buttons and military details. Even the sun peaked out a little for me while we snapped photos of this one, which felt very indicative of the change in season.
WEARING: FOREVER NEW BLAZER (ALSO COMES IN WHITE), JEANS, ORGANIC COTTON TEE, SNEAKERS (ON SALE NOW!), RAY-BAN SUNGLASSES, FURLA BAG
