Last week, I met up with a couple of fellow bloggers and creatives at Crown Perth for the talk with PR maven Roxy Jacenko. I took it as a good excuse to wear one of my favourite beautiful silk dresses (I’ve always been a sucker for silk) and get a little dressed up. Once in a while, it is nice to leave my denim go-to’s for a few hours and feel just that little bit more feminine. My friend, Eden, who is a talented photographer of De Fleur Creative kindly took these photos for me to share with you. If you are in Perth and looking for a photographer, check her out here.
THE SILK DRESS – WHY I LOVE THEM SO MUCH
The drape of this silk dress feels amazing to wear. It is the perfect dress to embody a chic, feminine and empowered woman. And, as I am sure you do too, I know many women just like this. I love the delicacy of silk, coupled with a firey colour like red. That blend of soft and light with passion and drive is synonymous with strong women. Those who go from one role to another, balancing work, family, friends, lifestyle and goals all at once. We have to because we want to. Therefore, I am calling this as the silk dress for strong women. I admit, that I may have a few similar dresses in my wardrobe that give me the same impression.
STYLING FROM WORK TO AN EVENT
While this silk dress is one that I will no doubt also style with a simple white sneaker and black ankle boot, it is lifted with a classic heel. Worn under a blazer for work, a classic trench in between, then a leather moto jacket at night, I love how versatile a silk dress can be. Even in the height of summer, I pull out a silk dress, add a sandal and feel ready to tackle any heat the day might bring. The same can not sadly be said for my beloved denim collection. Sobs.
With a printed dress such as this, I prefer to style them with a plain non-printed jacket and a neutral shoe. I’ll add extra touches with my bag or jewellery to complete the look. Not forgetting, in this case, a classic Parisian red lipstick.
How do you style a silk dress? I’d love you to share with me in the comments below. Oh, and before I finish up, as I spoke about in my last post, this is a perfect example of my hair using the O&M products. Click back to find out what I use to create this glossy, soft wavy hairstyle.
