Leave the stressing to someone else this Christmas. Here are some things I am doing (and you might appreciate) to ditch the stress this Christmas. Because one thing we all want is a stress free holiday season.
HOW TO HAVE A STRESS FREE CHRISTMAS
The little things you can do that add up to having a stress free Christmas. They may seem like simple tips but they make all the difference if you take some time to be mindful. And who really wants to add pressure to this often hectic time of the year? Nope, nobody!
CREATE A LIST (OR TWO!)
Ask yourself: What presents you need to buy for who ~ what budgets you have got – what food to buy
Writing out a list takes off the pressure of remembering everything that needs to be done or bought. You don’t have to do these on your phone, though it’s handy to have my lists on hand at all times. Personally I like having a physical list, somehow if I use good old fashioned pen and paper I find that I stop rethinking over the things on my list. Once I commit it to paper, it is done. Ready to be ticked off! Plus it’s an easy way to allocate who needs to cook what for bigger get-togethers.
DON’T LEAVE THINGS TILL IT’S TOO LATE
We started our Christmas shopping weeks ago. Actually, I think we are done now. Doing so early gave us plenty of time to make sure we had everything we needed with time to spare. Having said that, you still have just over two weeks to go! Time is now! Living stress free right now is knowing everything is sorted!
CLEAN AND TIDY
Tidying up is vital before, during and after Christmas. If everything has its own place and can be cleaned up as you go, it makes shorter work of those overwhelming cleaning and tidying tasks. Now is still a good time to set aside a day and spring clean – declutter every room and get rid of things you don’t need to hold onto. Make time to put things into proper storage solutions and even maybe reconfigure furniture to mix up how you use your space.
It’s worked wonders for us in our apartment. We are using the spaces so much more now than we were for the past eight months or more.
JUST RELAX, MAN
Chuck on a Christmas movie, sit back and enjoy. Turn on some fairy lights, feel the festive mood wash over. Listen to some carols while you cook or do the dishes to keep that mood going. Light Christmas candles. Go for a walk, swim, or run. Be outside with nature and let it refresh you. It’s easy to go from event to event on our calendar, but it’s vital to step back, be mindful and give yourself some time.
