Options to extend the styling of your slip dress favourites further. Or possibly I am just trying to justify adding more slip dresses to my wardrobe. Either way works for me.
SLIP DRESSES ANY DAY OF THE WEEK
Spot the girl who isn’t so into tight fitting bandage dresses. A slip dress is one of my go to answers for dressing up or down. One of the best understated and effortless dress styles going, a slip is one thing I can always trust. This is why I have accumulated so many.
With spring starting and my having a few more recently added / on their way, I thought I’d share another.
Actually, I have this exact dress in a cherry red (which I wore back here), but love the cut so much I wanted to choose a second one. They are just so wearable!
WHERE MY TIME GOES
Last weekend I was in my office at home, looking at the rack that fits into the ‘to shoot’ category, when I realised that 50% of the rack was made up of silk slips. Out of curiosity I decided to pull all of my slip dresses out of the closet and line them up. Thinking about it now, this is probably a classic case of me having some case of writers block. Creating a distraction by playing around with styling is probably the black hole that so much of my time goes to. Either that or online window shopping. So many fictional carts that I waste time putting together!!
We are finally on the home stretch to spring weather (my personal favourite) and coming up, our Perth fashion festival. As I am putting together my looks to wear to the shows, I think there will be at least one slip dress in the mix. The greatest part is that I can style them in so many different ways.
SLIP INTO THIS
A simple oversized white shirt is something on every capsule wardrobe list. Naturally, an oversized shirt and slip dress work together perfectly.
The cotton shirt I have on here was a classic piece I picked up at the new Perth Jac + Jack store. It has just the right amount of drape, without being too thick or heavy to work perfectly under a silk slip.
Taking two classic pieces and wearing them together is just one way to stretch my wardrobe further. Layering is such a nice way to mix up your looks.
Do you wear slip dresses this way? What do you think? Love the layers? Hate it? Let me know!
