The most basic lesson in what to wear this spring. Slip dress layering 101.
Oh the 90’s. I remember you.
THE SLIP DRESS
Naomi Campbell, Christie Turlington, Kate Moss. These ladies come to mind when I think of the 90’s. One of the most popular trends over the past year, which will be around for the next summer season is the slip dress.
The truth is that one of my most repeated outfits as a tween was the slip dress with a cropped tee underneath. Oh to have kept them. Actually, each time my Mum comes to visit us she brings more clothes over that I didn’t know I still had. I know for certain that she would still have the pattern from which she used to make my slip dresses for me!
THE BLACK SLIP
This one I have on is a vintage Moschino one I picked up at a vintage sale a few months ago. It actually looks better without the tee, but I haven’t gotten around to wearing it that way yet. I’ll save it for a night out. The Moschino Olive Oyl symbol chains are pretty fun. I feel like Kate Moss in this (again, without the tee). At the moment there are some great slip dresses available, I will link some down below. One of the most versatile dresses to wear, if you find the right cut for your shape, snap one up.
SLIP DRESS LAYERING
Before we hit the peak of summer weather (aka when I start wearing this slip dress again), I will be layering my slip dresses with simple tees. Throw on a denim or leather jacket or oversized sweater and you are good to go for the evening. Don’t over think it.
Wearable? What do you guys think? Are you already wearing slip dresses? Pairing them with sneakers, over the knee boots, ankle boots or strappy heels? Haven’t found the right one for you? Hate them? Tell me!
I would love to know what you all think about the slip dress and if you want to 90’s throwbacks to keep going.
