A guide to the best in skincare in Perth and the key products to keep hydrated all Autumn and Winter long. Plus a special Inspiring Wit reader offer from one of the best facial treatment spots in Perth!
I love living in Perth. We have sun, surf and plenty of it. Trouble is a lot of the time I find myself inside climate-controlled buildings for work with air conditioning that dries out my skin. Heading into winter wind and temperature changes can further wreak havoc with your skin, so I am very mindful of how important it is to keep my skin hydrated, loved and glowing. After all, as our biggest organ, it is important to look after!
Luckily, there are plenty of options for skincare and wellness here in the Perth CBD. I ventured out to find the very best in skincare essentials in Perth to keep your skin looking and feeling its best.
Inspired by the Mediterranean lifestyle, Provence based L’Occitane use high quality natural ingredients where possible to create its products developed following the principles of phytotherapy and aromatherapy. Currently celebrating its 40th anniversary, L’Occitane have developed skincare loved by people the world over.
L’Occitane use key ingredients from the south of France such as almond, lavender, cade, rose, angelica, verbena and cherry blossom along with immortelle grown in Corsica. In addition, one of the key ingredients L’Occitane adopts is Shea butter purchased directly from women’s groups in Burkina Faso as Fair Trade with the Ecocert certification. The Shea tree is considered sacred, and its butter is known as “women’s gold” because it is how the women make their money. Shea butter traditions are still used, such as only fallen fruit may be collected by women, and only women know the secret to making shea butter.

THE BODY SHOP
I headed into the Body Shop not having used their products since I was a teen. I was interested to see how the brand had grown over the past few years. The Body Shop girls told me that most people come in looking for as natural or organic skin care as possible, so their Nutriganics range is one of the most popular. Personally I am a huge fan of using oils so was keen to try out their new Oils of Life range and the twin ball massager. Not to be overlooked in the bathroom, I was impressed with the range of Organic cotton round pads and cosmetic buds in store.

Melbourne born skincare company and Instagram fodder Aesop (pronounced EEE-SOP) combine scientific research from its skilled chemical scientists with ingredients sourced from the most reputable suppliers around the world to create their covetable skincare ranges. I have been using Aesop products for years, the scents are like no other combination from another skincare brand, I carry one of the hand balms with me everywhere. If anyone ever sees me take it out of my bag to apply they soon ask to try some themselves. The carefully selected ingredients soothe, invigorate and deliver deep hydration where it is needed. Since the hands are one of those parts of the body that reveal age, keeping them soft and hydrated is vital.
Located in Enex100, the stand-alone Perth Aesop store is a calming oasis within the bustle of the CBD, designed by Melbourne firm Kerstin Thompson Architects. The minimal Black Japan timber, steel and concrete design is peaceful and inviting.

All of the ingredients that go into the Jurlique products are grown on their organic biodynamic farm in the Adelaide Hills. The plants are free from artificial fertilisers, herbicides, pesticides, and are harvested when they’re naturally at their peak. Personally, having grown up nearby in the Adelaide Hills (my Mum still does founder Ulrike Klein’s clothing alterations!), I began using the Jurlique products when I was a teenager. I wanted to use the most natural products on my skin and I still love them. I was so excited to find the Jurlique store when I moved to Perth!
The store is also one of the spa locations offering a facial and full body massage menu. The room is tranquil, and feels miles away from the busy Murray Street outside.
