Last week I was invited to be the official blogger for an evening celebrating Smales Jewellers 80th anniversary and to introduce the new Baselworld collections by Rolex.
Everyone knows and loves the Rolex brand. When I was asked to attend and be the official blogger for an event celebrating the 80th anniversary of Smales Jewellers and the launch of the new Rolex collection, I knew I had to share. The elegant evening was hosted at my favourite, Tribe Hotel Perth, which I introduced to you in my overnight stay back here.
ROLEX AT SMALES JEWELLERS
Smales is one of Western Australia’s oldest and most respected luxury jewellers and watchmakers. Established in Kalgoorlie in 1937 by Ron Smales Senior, the original Smales store sold and repaired quality timepieces. For 75 years, Smales have been designing, crafting and curating collections of the very finest jewellery. Further to this, the Smales name has been synonymous with luxury timepieces including Rolex.
A pioneer of the wristwatch since 1905, Rolex is at the origin of landmark innovations in watchmaking. Rolex have accompanied world travellers and achievers for over a century. Year after year Rolex continues to refine what is possible in watchmaking.
INTRODUCING THE LATEST ROLEX COLLECTIONS
To introduce the latest in its Oyster and Cellini collections, Smales made the most of the timing of the Rolex releases to celebrate their own milestone. Invited guests included some of Smales most respected clientele, along with a handful of Perth based models and style personalities. Sipping wines and tasting fresh dishes, guests were able to experience the new Rolex collections firsthand.
Personally, I was drawn to the navy watch faces, though I have explained my love for the shade often of late.
My own favourites included the Oyster Perpetual Datejust 41, the new generation classic that is both modern as it is timeless. The blue sunray finish of the watch face matched my made to measure Fame and Partners silk dress perfectly. Again, another navy number. I just can not get enough, can I?
The other model that caught my attention was the Cellini Moonphase, which features an exclusive display of the phases of the moon. Completed with an elegant brown alligator leather strap, the piece celebrates eternal elegance.
Ron Smales gave us an insight into his families company, its history and dedication to detail and elegance. It was evident that Smales has been a trusted family business that Western Australians love.
What do you guys think? A special Christmas gift? Am I dreaming? For now, I can continue to dream and keep working hard. The Rolex brand is one that certainly carries a lot of respect.
I’d love to hear your own stories of Rolex. I have been hearing so many over the past week. Please share them with me below. Is there one in your family? It would be great of you to share in the comments below.
