Recently I was lucky enough to be hanging poolside for a summer break. My poolside style formula that goes from pool to brunch.
If only we could all be poolside, barefoot taking in the sun! I know you are all keen! As a further ode to those long summer days, I thought I’d share my formula for an easy poolside style that takes you from the pool out for exploring. Which is where I would rather be right about now! And I am guessing you would be too.
In all honesty, most of my recent time in summery Broome was spent right next to this beautiful (if not icy) pool. As I made my way through the giant book I had packed, I did pretty alright by this spot. Those lounge chairs are still calling my name.
MY POOLSIDE STYLE FORMULA
This super-chilled poolside style look is definitely more casual than ‘resort’. It took me from a morning bike ride for brunch then down to the beach for a walk before returning to assume my position for the day at the pool. There is something so easy about trading your everyday jeans for a pair of denim shorts and slides.
The no-fuss poolside style formula is as easy as: denim shorts + graphic tee + slides + summer carry all bag.
This graphic tee is my favourite at the moment, which you will no doubt see on Instagram as I repeat wear it again and again! I love a good graphic tee, Anine Bing, Ganni and Unfortunate Portrait make some of my favourites of late. This Tiger print from Anine Bing just came in a jumper version too.
My denim cut off shorts are vintage Levi’s and are now the only pair I own, having sold all of my others! They fit me the best but I am going to have to add to my collection come summer time. There are so many on my radar, but I might start here or here. Any preferences?!
No surprises here! My slides are of course Birkenstock Arizona’s which I have in four different colours and always go back to. They are so comfortable and have arch support which sadly a lot of other slides and flat sandals don’t. I know I sound super old caring about arch support but I do and they also last a really long time, so I think they are also great value!
With the recent resurgence of love for a summery bag– be it a straw basket, woven bag or beach carry-all there are so many cool swim and beyond bags around. This one is from Skipping Girl, which I’ve had as a fun trusty beach bag for a couple of years. They have recently been added to Shopbop with an assortment of cheerful colours and patterns. I actually remember them being HUGE in the 90’s and desperately wanting one but never having the pocket money for it. So, truth be told I am living out the 90’s fantasy right now and damn happy about it. They fit a book, sunscreen, sunglasses, snacks, swimwear, a cap and slides easily.
Not a difficult or complicated formula at all! What do you guys wear on your summer holidays? I’d love to hear about any of your travel plans too! Let me know below!
