Where to find the best Christmas gifts in Perth for those last minute holiday shoppers. Find something that supports locals and that everyone will enjoy.
PERTH CHRISTMAS GIFT GUIDE
This year I wanted to shed some light on some Perth stores and local companies who have excellent gifts for Christmas. There are a bunch of things that really only happen in Perth, so rather than getting stuck shopping something completely basic from a large impersonal chain store, why not shop local?
Below I have selected gift ideas for friends, family members and even some thing to have on hand just in case those stockings need a little filler. Nothing is over $45.00 and everything is available locally, or online.
One of my favourite Perth stores has to be Generics. I talked about my haul from Generics back here, if you missed it. The store is loaded with skincare goods, handmade vegan products and even fashion and accessories from local designers. Generics is located on William Street in Northbridge, but has also just opened a second store for the holiday season at Enex 100 (on level 2) in Hay Street Mall. (It looks beautiful!) The Christmas shop is also featuring some WA fashion designers such as Shop Goh, Hello Parry, Zanthus and more, so if you need a holiday outfit, it is worth a look!
This is one boutique that you can duck into, ask for help and walk out with a bunch of gifts for men or women that are not made from nasty chemicals. They can make up beauty boxes for you or you can even get pre-made Secret Santa gift packs for $25.00.

Generics Merry Christmas Vegan Soy Candle (smells super yummy!).
HEY GIRL! THREADS
My good friend Adelle recently launched a company called Hey Girl! Threads, creating limited release seasonal designs that are perfect for before or after a workout. As a fitness lover, Adelle wanted to create uplifting and cool designs that are ethically produced and have the fair wear stamp of approval. Hey Girl! Threads release a capsule collection with 4-5 pieces each season coinciding with the weather and collaborating with companies each season.
The current season of fun graphic tees like my Tom Boy tee are priced at $45 each and feel super soft. I know there are only a small number of pieces left, so get in quick. Know any tom boys or ladies who lyrca and latte?
A few weeks back at the ‘Only in Perth’ Yelp event, I tried turmeric lattes for the first time. About time right?! Anyway, I was lucky enough to meet the owner of Ruby Chai, a Perth based tea company. Stocked at a couple of local places including at Roasting Warehouse in South Fremantle, the Ruby Chai teas can be ordered online here.
Mario and I are both completely in love with all of the Ruby Chai range! The Turmeric latte mix, Ruby Golden Chai ($20) is spot on, while the Honey Chai and Ruby Masala Chai blends ($15.50) are excellent too. I know a lot of people in my life LOVE tea, so I thought this would make for an ideal, locally made gift idea. All of the teas are free from artificial flavours and preservatives. Pure and natural.
TEMPER TEMPER FINE CHOCOLATE
Last year, when we were working with Volvo, I introduced you to a chocolate company in Magaret River by the name of Temper Temper (read more on that here if you missed it). I was COMPLETELY taken by surprise the other day when Mario came home with a block of our favourite salted caramel. Seriously, this is the best chocolate, you MUST try it! The best news is that, while you can stop in to the cafe and shop on your vacay down south, you can now also order the chocolate online! YAY!!
Another of my friends, Ami, owns La Paleta, making hand made ice treats inspired by traditional Mexican paleterias. La Paleta uses all natural ingredients with an emphasis on seasonal produce and quirky flavours. If you are a Perth local, you will no doubt have tried them at various festivals or from one of the stockists dotted around Perth and Fremantle. Each year La Paleta offer Christmas orders so you can stock your freezer for the break and have delicious icy desserts on hand. Place an order here, but be warned Christmas orders close Sunday 11th of December!!
BIB & TUCKER HONEY
Finally, I was recently introduced to Bib & Tucker’s honey, made from the urban beehives on top of the roof of the sea side restaurant in North Fremantle. The bees are in such close proximity to the ocean, that the honey has just a touch of sea salt flavour that you have to taste! You can pick up a jar of the honey from either May Street Larder or Bib & Tucker, but I will warn you, it won’t last long- so consider picking up more than one jar! It would make a great gift for the office- to sweeten a cup of tea, or for hosts of Christmas parties to say thank you. Read more about the Bib & Tucker bees here.
I hope that you have a wonderful Christmas, I know I am getting in early by saying that, but, in a way I feel like Christmas starts early, with all of the parties and festive season events.
I can not recommend supporting local companies enough. As I have met each of the business owners from these companies, some of whom are friends, I can wholeheartedly tell you that these are passionate, happy people who are following their dreams and love Perth. Any of these would make for unique, affordable, personal and high quality gifts for Christmas.
Know of any other great local gift ideas that you can pass on? Please comment below! Plus if you happen not to be from Perth, I hope that you too can be inspired to head out and meet the makers and or support your own locals.
