It’s a classic coat that completes an outfit but finding the perfect trench coat can be tricky. Here is where I found the right trench to elevate my outfits in autumn or spring.

WHERE I FOUND THE PERFECT TRENCH COAT
I’ve shared a few times now how much I love Everlane, so when I was hunting down the perfect trench coat, it wasn’t a surprise that they had a good one. I was looking for a thicker fabric than my last one which is unlined and super thin- good for a light summer layer but not ideal for much more. The colour had to be a classic trench style neutral beige and I wanted lining. Plus I wanted a belt! The last one didn’t have a belt so I missed it, they are just so handy to tie a look together, or you know, ward off the chill.
The Everlane Drape Trench Coat is 100% cotton twill with a storm flap and water resistant finish so it definitely has that whole weatherproof thing down.
HOW I AM WEARING IT
Well, clearly the whole jeans thing is my first port of call. I’m predictable that way. What can I say? It’s an easy first port! If you have caught any of my styling videos on my Instagram #IGTV channel @inspiringwit you may have seen it worn a different way. But essentially I start with a top like this v-neck thin knit add jeans or a skirt, even a slip dress and add a low heel or sneaker.
THE EVERLANE DAY HEEL
Alright, so the other piece that had been on my wishlist from Everlane for a while, were The Day Heels. Perfect with casual staples like jeans, or to wear to work, they are so versatile. I love low heels, I rarely wear or buy high ones anymore, they just don’t feel right most of the time on me. The Day Heels are simply amazing quality shoes. I picked the black suede (such a weakness, I love black suede anything!), made from Italian leather. So far the elastic at the back is a bit tight on me, so maybe I could have gone a half size up, but I think it’ll stretch with more wear. Their heels are designed to be comfortable all day for years of regular wear.
Something I love about Everlane is that they share the details about where things are made. The Italian factory that makes their shoes have been in the business for over forty years, with just 32 employees.
SO WOULD I ORDER EITHER AGAIN?
You bet I would! I opted for the trench coat in a size Small, I think I should have stuck to my usual size, in XS, but I thought I should size up for more room for a jumper underneath. The style is already a little roomy so I suggest to stick to your normal size. The shoes I would size up a half size, but they will stretch a bit anyway.
Next on my hit list from Everlane? The Double-Strap Block Heels, they look so classic! Plus I’m already eyeing off the Cotton-Linen Blazer in cream. So good!! And yes, for the record, the jeans I am wearing, which I talked about back here are still going strong. I wear them all the time!
