Keeping in check with your own personal style and making a point to own who you are.
OWN WHO YOU ARE
It was this time roughly last year that I recall writing a post about curating your own style, as I was wearing a western inspired silk shirt by Isabel Marant. The look is still one of my favourites. It is not so ‘on trend’, which suits me fine. There are times where I hate the idea of wearing something trend based.
Recently I have been asked to wear some things that for me have felt too similar to things I see daily on my Instagram feed, worn by the trendiest of bloggers. Though, I find the styles to look cool, they aren’t quite me. This is why I politely declined those offers.
CONFIDENCE IS KEY
I think in knowing who you are and honouring this person, you will naturally channel that confidence in your own style. Rather than subscribing entirely to the latest in trends, changing your style fluidly to match, I am still a believer of curating your own style. For me, this will include wearing western inspired pieces, things that are just a little on the bohemian side, a lot of masculine influences and comfortable things like denim, cotton, silk and linen.
Take wearing this Isla Untold denim dress. The cold shoulder style is pretty new for me, but I adore the denim fabric and easy-going swing style. I wore this dress to an afternoon event a few weekends ago and felt amazing in it. The wide sleeves are elegant, the button down swing style dress is breezy and the vintage inspired applique black roses make it even more beautiful. If you own who you are, your style and personality will speak for itself.
