Wearing opposites for as long as I can.
Somehow I have always managed to be one of those people who groans all through Winter feeling miserable, yet find myself wanting to hide from the sun come Summer time. Wait, let me correct that, hides from the HARSH Australian sun. The sun in the Northern Hemisphere is just so much more forgiving. Spring and Autumn, are times that I just love. I want the option of cosy layers, only to toss them off after the morning chill has subsided.
THE OPPOSITES GO-TO
When dressing for one of these everyday days, this is one of my go-to looks. For days where I don’t have appointments, but am either working at home, or heading out to run errands, this is it. Lately we have had a lot of warm but not overly hot days. Perfect for holding onto a much loved knit but with the freedom to wear shorts. I love the cosiness of a cashmere knit jumper. I just don’t want to take them off! I’ll bet it heats up soon enough, so I am stretching out wears as much as I can.
Pairing them with my favourite torn vintage Levis shorts, espadrilles, and a shoulder bag, I am all too happy! Wearing opposites together just feels right, in the same way that leather feels right with lace. I guess this is why I also love to wear heavy ankle boots with a dainty summer dress.
What are some of your favourite opposites combinations? Got a winner for me?
