As a self confessed lover of wearing navy, it was high time I found a navy suit. Sharing two ways to wear the classic navy suit, dressed casually and for the office.
< QUICK SHOP THE POST >
While I love to wear black, there are only so many times in a week that I want to pull on a full black outfit and head off to work. Something tells me I would not be alone in thinking this. If you have ever worked in an office and found yourself reaching for a black suit daily, you will relate. While black feels reliable and easy (it obviously goes with anything), have you ever considered a navy suit? I love to wear navy (and any shade of blue), but had never gotten myself a classic navy suit before.
Till now, of course!
THE NAVY SUIT FOR THE OFFICE
At a few recent events, I’d noticed that a huge majority of the men were all wearing navy suits. Personally, a navy suit on a man is one of my favourite looks. It is also one that I had dressed many a character in back when I was working as a costume designer.
A navy suit for a woman? I guarantee, is equally chic.
For an office look, I opted for a classic pointed pump and shoulder bag in a nude shade. I had also considered a red, tan, metallic or white pointed shoe. Given the suit I chose was a slim leg, the pointed shoe helps to elongate the legs, where a square toe heel may seem blocky. Of course, we all want longer legs, right?
The suit I picked out was from the premium collection from UK based, Next. It is made from pure wool and fit me perfectly. I went for a size 6 in the slimline style, if you are interested in sizing info! This cotton shirt was the perfect no fuss and sharp option to complete the office look. Although a cami top would be my next choice in how to wear the look for work.

THE CASUAL WAY TO WEAR A NAVY SUIT
As I work in a creative industry and office, I can get away with wearing anything. Yay! Although, I do prefer to adopt a smart casual look that is comfortable for getting through my long days. If possible, I always make a point to go for a walk and get out of the office. You might be like me and spent FAR TOO MUCH time in front of a computer/ phone screen. Surely I am not alone there!
If the sun is out, I feel like I have to make the most of it and soak it in! (See here, on a mission for lunch and to pick up some snacks for the guys in the studio).
To style the navy suit casually, I switch the dressy shoes for a casual white sneaker. Then I will roll up the hems to cuff them and switch out a shirt for a cotton tee. This suede bag is slightly bigger and can carry my sunglass case or a snack, which I tend to need by the 3pm mark.
A navy suit is so wearable, I feel like I will mix and match the blazer and trousers with other things a lot, be it dressed up or for a more laid-back style. If you are over black, I highly recommend considering navy!

Now it is over to you guys! Tell me, what do you wear to work? Actually, I’d love to hear what you do for your jobs too! You know what I do, so we should get to know each other better. Please leave me a comment below.
Also, let me know if you would wear a navy suit and which way you like it worn best. Personally I know I will end up wearing the laid-back take on it more often. But that is just me.
