This year I have been reading a heck of a lot more and could not wait to get a little more reading time over the holidays. Here is what is on my list!
WELLNESS MADE EASY WITH READING
Reading is one of the greatest things that you can do to switch off, get inspired and enjoy a digital detox. In the interests of wellness, taking time out to think away from the busy digital world (read: social media is a noisy landscape!) to read is an enjoyable task. As an avid bookworm, it has been an ongoing passion of mine to read classic fiction, compelling biographies and educational non-fiction books.
The summer and holiday season are a perfect time to relax and tuck up with a good book.
ADVICE FROM KARL LAGERFELD (AN AVID BOOK LOVER)
One of the resolutions I gave myself for 2016 was to read more often, which I will continue in 2017.
At some point I placed a big book order online and have been making my way through a ton of good books. I actually went back online in the week before Christmas to put together a new order, but thought I’d make sure I got through one or two more of my last books before I commit to some new ones. I think it was Karl Lagerfeld who said, if you buy yourself a book, make sure that you also buy yourself the time to read it.
Too true Karl.
MY HOLIDAY READING LIST
The Life Changing Magic of Not Giving a Fuck by Sarah Knight
If You Have To Cry, Go Outside by Kelly Cutrone
Life & Love by Lisa Messenger
Daring & Disruptive by Lisa Messenger
Mastering Your Mean Girl by Melissa Ambrosini
How To Win Friends & Influence People by Dale Carnegie
The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo
Beside these, I also have been finishing off some biographies on Frida Kahlo, Van Gogh and Prince. Rather than finish one book at a time, I tend to hop between, depending on my mood. Somehow despite having an average memory, when it comes to books, I can remember where I left off quite well. Handy, since I generally don’t bother with bookmarks.
So far I have finished If You Have To Cry, Go Outside. Cutrone is a funny, straightforward and very clever woman.
OVER TO YOU BOOK LOVERS!
What is on your holiday reading list? Got anything to recommend?
I do read fiction as well, though of late I had been getting into self development books. If you have a classic novel or bestseller to recommend, let me know below! Next up I have included poetry, a book on hygge, a travel guide, a cook book and some design books.
If you are a big reader, any chance you like to write as well? Read about the handwriting challenge Time To Write here.
