Roadtesting some of the bestsellers from cruelty-free Australian skin care brand Go-To.
ABOUT GO-TO SKIN CARE
I’ve been meaning to write about this company for so long now. Over the Christmas period, I’d been very kindly sent some of the bestsellers from Go-To skin care. Clearly, this post is long overdue (and I think I took these photos in February!). Go-To are a cruelty-free Australian skin care company founded by Australian beauty editor and author Zoë Foster Blake. As with many beauty editors who try a ton of products but never find the stuff they like, Blake decided to make her own. The products are plant-derived and don’t contain a bunch of extra stuff that can irritate skin and act as filler. Sounds good right?
I came across Go-To through friends, who I noticed usually only Snapchat or Instagram story about funny things their dogs do, but on multiple occasions would also share empties from Go-To. With sad face emojis. After seeing this a few times over the past year, I finally looked up their website to see what the fuss was about. Go-To have the best branding I’ve seen in a long time. Witty, cheeky and very down to earth, I could see on a marketing level what had appealed to my friends. Like non-pretentious skincare? Appreciate a company who live up to their own hype? Read on.
My favourite product in the range I have tried, this facial oil is incredible! Face Hero is a lightweight face oil that deeply hydrates, soothes, revitalizes and protects the face. Featuring 10 potent, purposefully selected plant and nut oils, Face Hero boasts essential fatty acids, vitamins and anti-oxidants, as well as anti-inflammatory properties and nourishment. It penetrates deeply and quickly to hydrate, revive and brighten. Without leaving residue, it insures your face against fine lines, dark spots, dryness and aging inflammation. I put this on overnight and wake up to a non-oily forehead. I tend to use it with my Gua Sha Tool too as it absorbs nicely. Plus it smells amazing!
GO-TO SUPER HANDY – HAND CREAM
The Super Handy is a non-greasy and non-sticky, fast absorbing hand cream that has either been living in my desk drawer or handbag. It is loaded with powerful anti-oxidants to keep the hands nourished and protected against dehydration and potent oils to keep the skin’s barrier intact and the cuticles healthy. The scent is light too and doesn’t overpower or compete with your perfume.
GO-TO PROPERLY CLEAN – FACIAL CLEANSER
Properly Clean was the first non-oil based cleanser I’d tried in a long while that felt like it could almost rival my favourite cleanser of all time (the Kora Organics Foaming Cleanser). This one was the first of my own Go-To empties. <Sad face emoji>.
The scent is mandarin, lime and ginger but it somehow reminds me of carrots, which I like! That could have been why I used it so quickly. This one cleanses and leaves your skin balanced without stripping it, irritating it or being excessively foamy or thick. It doesn’t leave any residue, instead, it leaves skin hydrated and clean.
GO-TO PINKY-NUDEY LIPS – TINTED LIP BALM
A deeply nourishing and restorative lip balm, Pinky-Nudey Lips has a universal pinky-nudey tint then finished and SPF 15 sun protection to create the ultimate balm and tint in one. It’s another one that keeps following me from my desk to handbag. This was the first of the products I spotted from my friends Snapchats about their empties and re-orders. Unlike a lot of other lip balms, I don’t find that this one catches in the back of my throat like many others do. Nor does it dry my lips out more so I keep reapplying and therefore need to buy more- a trick many beauty companies employ. Jerks.
HAVE YOU TRIED GO-TO?
Overall, this is one brand that I am happy to re-purchase. The packing is fun, quirky and cute while the products inside are low fuss, do what they say they will and are value for money. The Go-To Skin care website is the only place I have really seen that you can buy the products. I’d love to learn what you have used if you have tried Go-To and what you love about the brand!
