Today I am talking about the Google trends for fashion in 2016. How did you fare? Did you hop on to many? As a non-trend lover, I kinda surprised myself.
HOW DID THIS HAPPEN??
Personally, I don’t think of myself as all that ‘on-trend’. I tend to stick to what I love- my uniform that just feels right. Though, when reading through some of the Google trend reports, I realised that I’d worn a few of these on the blog this year.
GOOGLE TRENDS FOR FASHION IN 2016
The top fashion search trends for 2016 were for bomber jackets, off-the shoulder anything, slip dresses and playsuits.
Biker pants and ripped jeans remained a popular search throughout the year, while thankfully the drop crotch was one of the bigger decliners. I mean, comfortable and all, but ugly, right?!
HOW DID I FARE?
While I am not a huge trend follower, it turns out that I embraced a few this year. I didn’t even realise that I had. Perhaps hanging out with Emily is to blame! That girl sure knows what’s up!
Looking back, I did pull out an off-the-shoulder dress here (as uncomfortable as I find them to wear). Though I chose not to style it with a choker- the most paired combination of 2016. I look so ridiculous in chokers, see when I borrowed one from Em here for example! As for the playsuit, I love those– perhaps this is more of my bohemian side.
Finally the bomber jacket. Now that is one ‘trend’ that I can get behind! I love anything menswear inspired. A couple of weeks ago I shared one here and I have just picked up the most beautiful silk one that I can not wait to share!
SO, WHAT WILL THE 2017 TRENDS BE?
Of course, all that goes around comes around and with the embellishments we have been seeing for a while now, in the new year, I think that the 70’s styles will progress to being 80’s inspired. Think 80’s glam, maximalist embellishments, one shoulder tops, ruffles, bra tops, neon (please no!) etc.
Though it won’t all be over the top, stripes and button-down shirts reworked will stay and I don’t think beige will go away.
So, tell me which trends did you get into this year? Does anyone find off-the-shoulder comfortable? Looking forward to the 80’s inspired neons? Is anyone? I think I’d best avoid the trends and stick to my French inspired style.
