MADRID ROOFTOPS ARE A DREAM
Taking in the beautiful golden sunset from the rooftop of the Praktik Metropol Madrid Hotel (more on my hotel stays with the Praktik guys to come- they are AMAZING), was one of the best ways to cap off a busy day in the bustling city. Perched in the garden high over the city, we were able to watch from all angles as the city became bathed in golden light.
WORTH THE CURIOUS STARES
Of course, I made the most of the light and got Mario to snap a few outfit photos for me- much to the amusement of some fellow holiday makers lounging in the recliner beds. By now I am used to the double takes (to see if I am just some girl or probably to spot a celeb of some sort), the wisecracks and giggles of passers by as we shoot pictures. Really, who cares? A stranger can laugh at me all they like- I’ll just do my job thank you.
There is no way I will waste that light!
MADRID FROM ABOVE
The slate spires, wrought-iron balconies, ochre rooftops and wedding cake buildings turned a glowing golden, softening into a buzzing night as people hit the streets and families gathered to go for late night churros. Can you blame them? I thought, with so much entertainment on the street, why would anyone own a TV? I mean, from our balcony I could watch as hookers tried to pick up clients, reach out and grab those light up spinning things that souvenir sellers whizz up into the sky or just watch as people took in the night.
Later, we discovered that actually, the Spanish TV soaps are AMAZING and I soon ate my own words. We watched a sitcom that revolved around a gym, as the brightest and most over the top Spanish soap stars got themselves into all sorts of trouble. I just googled and found a clip, of Gym Tony, do yourselves the favour and watch a snippet! It is so funny!
More on Madrid soon, including the all day food tour that you HAVE to do and those incredible Hotels. Have you been to Madrid? Seen it from the rooftop of some beautiful building? Let me know below!
