An honest look at four of my sartorial choices over the height of summer.
FOUR STYLES I HAVE BEEN WEARING IN THE HEIGHT OF SUMMER
I thought it were about time that I put together another ‘four looks I have been wearing’ post, since, we are now coming toward the end of summer. These four-looks posts have gone over well, which goes to show that a lot of you like to conveniently get a bunch of style ideas in one place. Though, Pinterest already proved that.
While we have had some milder weeks in the height of summer, with a few days of rain and plenty of low temperatures, we have also hit some meltingly hot days. It has meant that I have on occasion had an excuse to wear a blazer, or jacket, which suits me just fine. While I have been working away over the past few weeks on various projects that are yet to see the day I hit “publish” I haven’t written too many journal-like posts here.
Though you may see a little more of this on my Instagram Stories, honestly a lot of this time is spent at my desk, makeup free or stretching out on my yoga mat. There may also have been some catching up on SHERLOCK in there too.
Until I can fill in the blanks that is my summary! Without further ado, here are those four looks from the hight of summer…
MY CASUAL SUIT
I’d hesitate to admit how old this blazer is, though it is vintage, I can tell you I bought it in 2009. I have since worn it probably four days a week and will be the most sad the day it ever dies. This is true love! I was thinking I should do a tour video one day of my closet and point out how little I really buy, but in fact wear the same things over and over. To be fair I have had these jeans for at a guess two years and the tank top was from a recent collaboration with Superdry.
Anyway, this look is about what I would call one of my work looks. It is casual, thanks largely to the jeans, but polished enough thanks to the relaxed blazer and buckled detailing on my beloved boots. It’s also a look I regularly wear if travelling, so it is a general all rounder.
WEARING: VINTAGE BLAZER (SIMILAR HERE), SUPERDRY CAMI TOP, TORN KNEE JEANS, TOGA PULLA BOOTS, FURLA BAG
THE WINNING SUMMER COMBO
Hands up who remembers this look? This is basically cheating because I shared this look in my last four looks to wear post, but since I’d forgotten and insisted Mario take my photo in it one morning, here we are. This linen bohemian embroidered top is one I have worn all summer. The same can be said for the drop crotch shorts and Birkenstocks (though, I wear those year round).
By now I think you should come to realise I repeat wear the same looks and clothes a lot, because it’s realistically how it is done!
WEARING: BOHEMIAN TRADERS EMBROIDERED TOP, BOHEMIAN TRADERS DROPPIE SHORTS, RAY-BAN AVIATOR GLASSES, BIRKENSTOCK ARIZONA SANDALS, FURLA BAG
THE SUMMER COORDINATES
Having said that… (enter the irony) Look new clothes! I have come to see how great coordinates are if you are considering buying a whole new look. I’d never done this before, I tend to prefer to invest in one piece and make them mix and match.
I have worn both the blazer and the shorts with other non matching looks a great deal after they arrived. They look fun and fresh together, but the simple pinstripe makes them so wearable with other pieces from my wardrobe.
WEARING: SHILLA THE LABEL BLAZER, CAMI, SHORTS, CHLOE SUSANNA BOOTS, ZAC POSEN BAG
THE WHITE DRESS AND DENIM JACKET
There is no point in my pleading the case for the white summer dress, as I have done so recently here. Nor is there much of a case for the validity in your arsenal for a denim jacket as I have also done that here. Suffice to say, both of these items have been getting a work out thorough out the height of summer. I will point out that this dress is currently on final clearance sale and under $60. I can not tell you how good a cotton dress like this is the most handy thing on a swelteringly hot day!
WEARING: BOHEMIAN TRADERS DENIM JACKET, COTTON DRESS, CONVERSE SNEAKERS, VINTAGE CAP (SIMILAR HERE), VINTAGE SCARF (SIMILAR HERE), FURLA BAG, MICHAEL KORS SPORTS WATCH
