Heading into winter a little more prepared with a faux fur jacket. How I plan to style this rock and roll gem!
PRE WINTER PREP
A jacket that I thought about for a good six weeks (or more!), this Mother snap bomber jacket is a new addition for the cooler months ahead. Last winter, I remember complaining SO much about the dreary cold weather that this year, I want to be more prepared. Moving to Perth from Adelaide (which has much colder winters), I donated most of my coats away then didn’t really replace them. As the cooler months creep ever closer, I’ve been making a Pinterest board with winter style inspiration to hopefully allow me to get just that little bit more excited about the cold. Fingers crossed that it works!
Rather than let the cold dampen my spirits or style, it is high time to work out a way to learn to love winter fashion. Enter the faux fur jacket.
THE FAUX FUR JACKET
Last winter I loaned a stunning faux fur jacket for a shoot (see it here) and I WISH I’d bought it. Since then, I have been on the lookout for the perfect leopard faux fur jacket. Though I thought I wanted a long straight coat, upon seeing this Mother bomber, I kind of loved its chunkier, boxy style. Leopard is one of those neutrals that, though I don’t wear too much, end up being pretty timeless. Actually, all of the leopard print pieces I do own have been in my closet for many years.
Over the northern hemisphere’s winter, I swear I saw SO many cool faux fur coats on bloggers I follow over on Instagram that I knew it’d be my first purchase once the weather cooled. The bonus being that it was on sale on Shopbop here.
Clearly, in this look, I went for a pretty casual style with an elevated metallic low shoe. I can almost guarantee I’ll mostly wear this faux fur coat this way 90% of the time. The bomber style keeps it pretty casual. The other look I am keen to style this with is all black. Skinny black jeans (plenty of options here), a pair of black boots and you guessed it, a black top. Or, to keep things really rock and roll, a graphic band tee. I’m not sure yet how this one will go with a black slip dress. I’ll have to give it a go and keep you updated.
