No, this is not slip dress number 100. It might just be number 10. Reasonable? How I elevate a black slip dress and why it is one of my top staples.
While I feel almost every second outfit I have been sharing with you lately is either a wrap dress or a slip dress, I swear it is not true. Well, not entirely true. And I say this having just placed another order from Realisation Par for yet another two wrap dresses, for my birthday. What can I say? When I am on to something that works, I tend to stock up and repeat wear. Both are some of the easiest things to transform from casual to elevated. Below is how and why.
HOW TO ELEVATE A BLACK SLIP DRESS
Or, any slip dress for that matter. While I am all for keeping things simple, there are a few tricks that I adopt to take a slip dress from simple to elevated.
ADD AN INCREDIBLE WATCH
If you asked me last year to tell you the time, chances are, I wouldn’t have been able to. Both of my (pretty old) watches had flat batteries and ninety percent of the time, so does my phone. My phone loves to tell me I am at less that 10% battery life and have run out of storage.
In an effort to clean up my act, this year, I made a point of finding a good watch. Or, as it has turned out nine good watches. I don’t seem to do anything by halves! When I found VOID Watches, I fell in love with what have turned out to be the most elevated, minimal and stunning watches. I added two to my collection. This one, the V02MKII in gold and black is one of the most modern and minimalist watches I have ever seen. The square stainless steel case with half sapphire glass is exactly what VOID are known for worldwide. The sandblasted gold case has a matte and satin finish that I had never seen before. How cool is it?
As the finishing touch to any minimal look, this elegant and completely cool watch is the perfect touch to elevate a black slip dress.
BLACK LEATHER ACCESSORIES WITH DETAILED ACCENTS
I must admit I will try to throw my leather jacket over any outfit and it does work for about eighty percent of them. Slip dresses are an obvious match made in heaven for a leather jacket. Thinking about it, this jacket I have had now for more years than I can remember, so it may be time for me to start saving for a new one.
So too, have I had these studded Chloe boots for years! Do I want to say four years? A comfortable boot, with a low heel and some sort of detailed accent immediately elevate a black slip dress.
To tie it all together, gold hoop earrings and a bag with a gold hoop detail. Done!
