One of my most adopted style hacks for extending my wardrobe further. Wearing dresses as a vest is exactly the kind of versatility I love.
VERSATILITY AND STORAGE
One of my favourite things about a long line button down dress is versatility. If something presents me with multiple uses, I can not tell you how much more I appreciate it.
Why? Well, I don’t know about you guys, but truth be told I have one and a half wardrobes to use and they are both full. Not even including the winter coats and knits I tend to keep in vacuum sealed storage bags! Though I did get a chance to go through those yesterday and donate a few bags worth of coats and things to charity.
Versatility and storage space are high in my list of priorities. I do not deal well with clutter and excess. It makes me shudder.
When it comes to what I allow into our house, since we have a small space I consider things carefully. Besides this, I love when something can serve multiple functions.
IT IS TIME TO DONATE SOME WINTER GEAR TO THOSE IN NEED
Side note… The op shops and charity shops in Australia can really do with your donations right now, particularly for any coats, jumpers and blankets you have not been using. I looked at my storage and found more pieces than I expected that I had honestly not worn in years. Though, they are beautiful I didn’t need them (come to think of it, I did donate one of my favourite winter coats which fit like a glove, but wasn’t a colour I wear much anymore). Let’s hope I don’t regret that donation! Anyway, I highly recommend you take a look at your wardrobes and see if there are any winter items you can donate.
There are people in our communities who really need them more than you do!
STYLE HACK: WEARING DRESSES AS A VEST
So, in the interests of versatility, I thought I’d share the less conventional way of wearing a long button down dress. Pictured I am wearing the Leonie Dress from Australian brand BC The Label. BC are a brand I have worn a number of times. I love their minimal aesthetic and high quality pieces which are both affordable and chic. Of course, I am always aiming to recommend good value pieces to you all, so this is one brand I am happy to keep supporting.
I love to find pieces that create length and layer. When I look at a dress like this, I always start thinking about how I can style it with other wardrobe staples (like jeans, which I reach for all too often!). Though it makes for a light layer and could be considered superfluous, I love the silhouette it creates. Wearing dresses as a vest is one of my favourite ways to style a dress. Actually, I would probably wear it this way a lot more than as a dress.
So, consider this as a style hack to stretch your wardrobe out further. A button down dress can easily be styled with jeans and a cami or another dress to create an entirely new look. Give it a go! Let me know what you think.
Is this a style hack you would try?
