FACT: YOU HAVE GOT TO TRY MY
LAZY BUSY GIRLS BEAUTY FINDS!
Now that we are all on the same page, here are a few items I have been using to prep and create an excellent base for my summer skin.
One easy trick to ensure a bronzed, contoured look is to enhance your features and apply bronzer along with your makeup each day. Another is to tontour. What is that? ‘Tontouring’, a term coined by Cocoa Brown founder Marissa Carter, is using a self-tan to apply a semi-permanent contour using different shades of self-tanner. You apply the 1 Hour Tan Mousse all over the face to create the all over glow, then using a UBU Professional Stippling Brush, apply the 1 Hour Tan Mousse in Dark to the forehead and using a UBU Foundation Brush, apply under the cheekbone from ear to mid cheek, a little bit under the nose and down the sides of the nose. Then wash off as you would a self-tan. This is one trick to speed up the daily makeup routine, which I am all too happy to cut shorter. The UBU brushes you can pick up at K-Mart and they are actually really good!
I have ‘tontoured’ a number of times now and am happy to have neither stuffed it up and applied terrible streak lines across my face- I think using the brushes and careful attention to blending helps. Every time I have tontoured I find it that much quicker of the morning getting ready and the bonus is not looking awful without makeup on either. It doesn’t look over the top or anything, as long as you nail it, it just looks like you have really well defined features. Win!
SUN PROOF PRIME AND FOUNDATION
I have been testing out the Rimmel Fix And Protect Primer and Match Perfection Foundations for about six weeks now. The Primer has a strong SPF, which I have been reserving to use on days I know I will be outside a lot. While it is not my favourite primer, the SPF25 factor is something I can not ignore in our summer, so it definitely has its place. It is mattifying for most of the day, something I hugely value!
I can liken the Match Perfection Foundations to the Loreal True Match Foundation which is the one I use as my main choice- namely as it does as good a job as many higher end brands, keeping the costs down. I am happy to say that the Rimmel Match Perfection Foundations are just as good, I can now happily switch between either, so I am glad to have given these a try. These contain a moisturising complex which leaves the skin hydrated and contain SPF20. They match to the skin tone creating a nice even coverage without being heavy.
FAUX TAN FOR THE DAY
I have just started trying the Rimmel Sunshimmer Instant Tan BB Cream, which is like a whole other level of cheating the summer tan. If I have had a couple of days inside
watching something on Netflix in the office and notice my skin is looking a bit more pale than I would like, throwing on some of this is a quick fix. This is very handy if I am on my way out or had meant to but forgot to tan a couple of nights before. (Possibly the reason I don’t get through a self-tan bottle too often). It blends without streaking, you apply it in place of a body moisturiser and it does the job of a glowing tan for the day as well as keeping your skin moisturised. I have to be happy with so many products that keep coming out which keeps up with the on the go far too busy for a lengthy beauty routine lifestyle! THANKS!!!
The number of times I have been to a salon to get my nails done? Ever? One time! I was kind of dragged to join my friend while she got hers done, so I gave it a go. It was an experience I have never felt the desire to repeat. It’s just not very ‘me’. But I do like to paint my nails and have tried a number of brands, favouring O.P.I. and Chanel mostly. I thought I’d give the Rimmel Super Gel a go, since it is all about salon nails at home in no time without the need for the super weird UV lamp. Now, my nail polish tends to chip on the second day, so when I read that these lasted up to fourteen days, I was curious. On day three they began chipping, so I guess I got an extra day out of them than my normal job. The sets come with the polish and the top coat, it is quick to dry and the brushes are really good. I did like the shimmery colour so I’ll keep using them.
I’d be keen to hear if anyone knows of tricks to extend the life of a home painted nail job? Help me out! :)
DESK TOP LIP SERVICE
Actually, you don’t need to keep these on the desk- I just do so I can combat the dried lip issue thanks to the air conditioning. I love the Jasmine Green Tea Carmex the most! I may have a few though to choose from, but this actually fixes up the chapped lip issue pretty quickly and isn’t super thick or sticky.
DRY SHAMPOO MAKEUP
I am obviously an adopter of the old dry shampoo! I tend to run on the go between jobs and social/ fitness stuff so it definitely saves me from time to time (righto, ALL THE TIME!). When I heard about the ‘makeup for your hair‘ version from Ambiance of coloured dry shampoo powders I was pretty keen to give it a go. I haven’t really wanted to go back and get my hair colour done, I sort of like it the way it is growing out, but the fun thing about these are, if I want to add that lighter colour back into the crown- this pretty well does the job! You sprinkle the powder in, blend with the attached brush and work it a little in with your fingers. I actually love the texture of these- it doesn’t leave a powdery white coat, nor a sticky finish, the powder blends in softly. I have both the blonde tint and the no tint versions and switch between them- depending on which I have chucked into my bag. Both absorb excess oils, lift the roots and don’t leave a strange powdery texture. More than happy! In fact I have used my regular dry shampoo’s once since I got these just to compare and then switched back.
NO MORE BEAUTY FOR YOU!!
So that is it for now, you don’t need to read about any more today! I have a guide to some of the best things to try in 2016 coming up in a few days, which I am excited to have been putting together for a while and I am really excited for some of the beauty items in that guide. Stay tuned. I also have more of our Morocco tour and some activewear and general everyday off duty style stories coming up for you. (I think if it ever seems quiet around this .com it is generally thanks to the work I am doing and getting absorbed in!).
