Why I’ve invested in beige tones for autumn and winter.
This morning when I went out to get some bits and pieces for breakfast I was oddly excited to feel a little bit of a chill. That seasonal change is usually something I am not normally so excited about but its undeniably reinvigorating. At the moment, that chill only lasts a few hours before the sun peaks and it is super warm again, but I’ll take that. And since my favourite park is now golden and warm with falling leaves, autumn truly has fallen. Cue an excuse to warm hands with a takeaway coffee, wrap up in a wool scarf and soon, don a knitted beanie or felt beret. Sounds pretty good, doesn’t it?
AUTUMN IN BEIGE
Shades like beige I have consciously increased in my wardrobe over the past six months as I turned to a grown-up luxurious colour palette that feels warm and inviting. I’m not into neon (though, funnily enough, neon and beige are pretty cool together), and have been feeling grey tones a little bit less. Grey will always be a classic for me, but one that I wore a lot in recent years, so have felt this shift for warmth. Beige pairs with other neutrals and gold hardware and jewelry perfectly, so it’s a natural fit for my wardrobe.
This blazer, another check one from my collection, has been doing me well from Bohemian Traders. It was released last year but I am glad that they have kept it in their range. It’s one I am sent questions about every time I wear it so, in advance, I have it in an XXS and it’s beautiful!
FINDING A CLASSIC SCARF
When I visited the Acne Studios store in Sydney back in January, I was wanting to check out the beige shade of this beautiful scarf to see if it would pair well with this blazer (and my others). It did, so I promptly bought one in January (aka the peak of summer) in case they sold out again by the time autumn came. This had happened the several times I’d hoped to invest in a grey one, so I planned ahead. Now, I am so happy to finally be able to wear it! For the record, this one is the Canada narrow scarf which comes in a heap of colour options.
Of course, this is a high-end option, but I was keen to invest in this quality and I love it. There are beautiful quality wool and cashmere scarf options at my favourites like Uniqlo and I love this one at Everlane. On the budget end of the scale, ASOS have a few colour options in an acrylic scarf for under $20.
How do you feel about beige? Into it? Swore you would never wear it but now you love it? Seen enough? Let me know how you feel below. Looking forward to reading your thoughts.
