Travelling the world, via beauty products. Testing some Asian cult skincare favourites to see what all the fuss is about!
Last time around, I was road testing the cult beauty favourites of France, thanks to the guys at Maslow and Co. This past month, I have instead been trying the Asian edit. To be honest, I had, like everyone else, heard all of the hype about Asian beauty products. But, I hadn’t really tried any. Every makeup artist I worked with, I asked which brands to try, but never ended up getting around to them.
When the Maslow and Co edit arrived, I quickly found a few favourites!
THE ASIAN BEAUTY EDIT
These are just a few of the Asian beauty edit favourites that I loved from this Maslow and Co edit. I am such a sucker for clean skin and exfoliating, so I was most impressed with these…
Son & Park Beauty Water
This multitasking toner and cleansing water is a cult Korean beauty favourite. With Papaya extract, Lavender water, Rose water and Orange fruit extract it delivers brighter skin tone and a touch of hydration. I have used half of this already. It neutralises the pH balance of your skin, which works for me! After cleansing, I splash this on to tone before a serum and moisturiser.
J.One Jelly Pack
The first time I tried this, I thought it was just the weirdest thing ever. I was so not sold. But, letting it settle into my skin a little more, I began to appreciate it. Designed as a hydrating mask and makeup primer, it creates an amazing base for makeup. Particularly for prolonged wear and before shooting any look that may require close ups, I appreciate this one! Developed by a K-Pop star, Ha Jiwon after spending years trying to perfect her skin for film shoots, it is very clever.
My favourite product among these gems has been this tiny cleanser pot. A Japanese product crafted from powerhouse ingredients, the orange balm is perfection. I noticed even my partner sniffing curiously at this pot and who knows, probably trying it sneakily when I am not around! I swear all men use our beauty products sneakily! Or perhaps I have actually just used this up so quickly.
Super zesty citrus scented, this balm emulsifies makeup for a beautiful cleanse. I apply this one before jumping into the shower then press a warm muslin cloth over my face to steam it, before removing. It makes for such a beautiful treatment. Then I follow up with a second cleanse using another favourite, Kora Organics Foaming Cleanser.
PUREARTH Tumerica Exfoliating Sand
An ancient Ayurvedic recipe, this hand blended treatment is made up of biodynamic turmeric, Kashmiri saffron, Persian walnuts, bitter apricot kernels and neem. So, as you can imagine, it smells AMAZING. It lifts dead skin cells, draws out impurities, clears blemishes and leaves smooth glowing skin. I have to be really careful to remove this one properly because it is bright yellow and I have found traces around my hairline the morning after using. Blending with water or yoghurt, you can use it as a scrub or mask. I love this one, it is so different to anything I have used and I adore that scent.
Have you guys tried much in the way of Asian beauty products? Got any recommendations? I’d love to give more things a go. Open you your suggestions!
