Spring is here and with it so many great things! September is my favourite and I somehow managed to visit almost every city in Australia last month!
8 THINGS I LOVED IN SEPTEMBER
September went faster than any other month this year. I am still not sure I didn’t sleep through a week and miss it. Spring is my favourite time of year so I’ve been feeling much more optimistic and excited all around.
First of all, my health!! Haha I had to put that one in since I spent August being sick, September was amazing. I’ve been back into my workout routine, feeling stronger. It makes a world of difference to my focus, sleeping better and having more energy.
While in August I took a couple of mini rural staycations both North and South of Perth along the WA coast, September saw me travel half of the country in one solid week! Maybe I could go into more detail in a post coming up since I now realise I have a bunch of pictures and stories I’d be keen to share from each destination on our whirlwind stay. For now, I will simply say that I loved the Sofitel Hotels experiences.
This is a big one. I traveled with Kiara (aka Lion in the Wild) years ago for a Sydney trip (see the journal back here) and since then, we have barely had a whole lot of time to catch up or hang out. She is always going to incredible destinations around the world, so despite living a short drive from one another, I am never 100% sure when she is even home! When Kiara asked me about going on the Sofitel trip with her, I was so excited to hang out again and get creative shooting this cool project. It turned out to be one of the best trips ever, thanks largely to Sofitel and the Accor teams spoiling us rotten! But, more so, spending time with Kiara was just so much fun. I think we both got to know one another even more.
BLAZERS, BLAZERS, BLAZERS
Never one to shy away from a simple blazer outfit, I added a couple of new linen blazers to my collection recently. The first being a pinstripe set from Melbourne based brand Elka Collective. I’ve since worn that suit over and over, the quality is excellent. The second linen blazer is a cute pastel yellow set (this time with matching high waist pants) from LPA at Revolve. I quickly styled this one with a few looks and shot some looks last week, so you might see quite a bit of pastel yellow between here and my Instagram. The colour is just so much fun. Yellow is so cheerful! Linen, ultimately is the best spring to summer fabric, being so laid back and breathable.
GETTING DRESSED UP
On our trip with Sofitel, we had a beautiful dinner event each night, along with cocktail hour prior, and some very fun dress codes. It was actually a lot of fun to get dressed up each night, don a beloved dress, do hair, makeup, etc. I packed a bunch of my favourite dresses that I love to bring out for occasions. As you know, I am big on repeat wearing things, so it was an excellent chance for me to slip into a dress I might not have had occasion to wear in a while. I can honestly say, if you find a beautiful occasion dress, please do not be shy to wear it more than once. Honour that beautiful dress!
And if you aren’t big on repeating, opt for dress hire. My clever friend Olivia founded All The Dresses, which is like an all-encompassing website for all the dress rental companies. From there you can search by brand, size and occasion to find the exact option for your event. Very handy.
Having just listed that last one, I’m going to flip that around and say how happy I’ve been to be back in flat shoes this past week or so. My poor feet definitely got over wearing heels! Cute little flats like these classic slingbacks are the first things I’ve been reaching for. With that in mind, here’s a little edit of the best flat shoes I’ve found…

NOT EATING MEAT
While this isn’t a permanent fixture or a big commitment (and I never really ate all that much anyway), at home we haven’t been cooking any meat dishes. It’s been so nice to concentrate on gluten, dairy, and meat-free meals. Instead, we have been cooking more plant-based meals and I have loved it.
Must admit, I completely knocked this show on the first watch. So, when I noticed it was up to five seasons (so how can it be awful) we gave it another try. And I love it. We are already on to the fifth season. It is so funny and the perfect way to end last month’s list.
