Those 8 things that I loved last month. The second to last round-up for the year!
8 THINGS I LOVED IN NOVEMBER
It’s nearly the end of another year. So I will have one more of these in the series to complete! I hope you are all having a wonderful festive season. I’ve just gotten back from a week with my family in Adelaide (my hometown) and it was so lovely. A week (or technically 5.5 days) was not enough! It just made me want to spend more time there, catch up with old friends more and just enjoy that beautiful city and its surrounds. Honestly, at this point, I am super bored with Perth but it doesn’t seem practical to move interstate so I am not really sure what to do. This is why I’ve been in Perth for so long now, I come to the same conclusion every time it comes up, that it doesn’t make a lot of sense to move. What can you do?! If you have an answer for me, please send it my way!
So I’ve been really very lucky to be invited to a could of beautiful Christmas lunches lately, with Pottery Barn & West Elm and for a high tea at the Westin Perth. They were both absolutely beautiful. It’s been so fun to be in that festive mood and see people looking so happy and excitedly talking about their festive plans. Before flying back to Perth, my family and I had a lovely early Christmas lunch at the charming Crafers Hotel up in the Adelaide hills. Unfortunately, I will not be home for Christmas this year so this was just perfect!
It seems to be the time of year when people get into making things! Be it baking, sauce making or decoration making, it’s such a fun thing to do. Before the high tea at the Westin, we had a wreath making class with florist Bec from Fox & Rabbit. It was so fun, I was super slow but now have this beautiful big wreath hanging from my front door. Dropping little leaves any time you go in and out! haha
FILMING MAKEUP VIDEOS
Something new for me to share has been some short beauty videos. I’ve shared on my stories of course, but these are IGTV posts under the Beauty series. I started with a video on my hair routine and have now begun a series of makeup looks with some of the beautiful products I’ve gotten in for Christmas. I’m so excited to give them a try and share something a little different. While I have a lot of it, I don’t apply all that much makeup, favoring a less is more approach. It’s been so cool to hear feedback on the videos too. For a long time, I mostly had trouble finding beauty vloggers who didn’t wear tons of makeup. Finally, I found French makeup artist Violette who I adore. She’s now not only sharing on her YouTube but also IGTV, so it’s inspired me a little to give it a go.
SHOOTING CREATIVE CONTENT
As you can tell, we shoot a lot of photos. I only share a fraction! Some aren’t for my channels, as I create a lot for brands. But it always kind of fuels the fire to keep being creative. The more you are pushed to shoot, you really have to do something different or its pretty easy to get bored and burned out. Coming up with new ideas, storyboarding and trying things out is such a great way to break up the monotony.
I couldn’t believe when people voted (on my Instagram stories) that they haven’t really used a facial mist spray before. Crazy! I used them all the time and have done so for years. There are three different mist sprays on my desk at any one time, with more in the bathroom, by my bedside and in the fridge for a cooling spray. So, now I am curious! Have you used any mist sprays? If so, which are your favourites? Please let me know below.
As you can see from this outfit, I am having a moment with knit dresses. While I’d not worn any in a few years, and of course, now that it’s getting warmer, it’s one of those things I’m looking for. Go figure! This knit dress is from knitwear brand St. Cloud. St Cloud are from Melbourne, I’ve worn one of their jumpers before, which was beautiful. When I saw this collection with the knit tops and dresses I was so in love! The colours are all beautiful, olive greens, orange, pink and classics like black, white and beige. The beige is so chic.
I couldn’t not include this since I’ve been talking about and working on Christmas gifts for the past six weeks. I hope you have all been enjoying the Christmas gift guides as much as I have loved making them! There is more to come, I am just finishing it off!
LUSH GREEN PLANTS
Having moved our furniture around a couple of months ago, I’ve now got this view from almost any angle of the apartment of lush green plants. And I love it! Also, silly me, we have worked out that some of them were not doing as well because I was only watering once a week. They needed so much more than that! Now, we are watering almost every second day, testing the soil first if they need it. In the last month, all of them have grown so much bigger with fresh new leaves. It’s so exciting! It is like a little jungle!
