Last month’s 8 things that I loved. June, you were alright. Better late than never!
I’m a little behind in my posts here. I planned a bunch while we were in South Africa but the internet connections were slow so I saw it as a nudge to take a break. Thus, this ‘8 things for the month’ post is quite behind! Still, I started the series this year without a gap so I want to keep it up! So here goes…
8 THINGS I LOVED IN JUNE
Ganni x Adam Heath.
At the beginning of June, I was asked to attend a lunch with the iconic Perth boutique Adam Heath, celebrating Ganni’s latest collections. It’s clear that word is out I’m a Ganni girl! They also kindly asked to dress me in a new season look for the event, so I called in and got an early look at the collection, opting to wear a rushed leopard print dress (with puff sleeves, of course!).
BLACK + CREAM
Almost all I seemed to be wearing over the past few weeks were black and cream together… not even sure how that happened. I shared three of those looks back here and more on Insta. Sometimes it’s the simplest things.
PERTH GUIDE FOR HUSSKIE
Another fun little project was to share my top fives for where to eat, shoot, stay and shop in Perth for Husskie. There were a lot of places I didn’t include but could have, it made me realise how lucky we are. Spoiled for choice. Even better that, once you get to these hot spots, they aren’t super busy either, which I imagine happens a lot in other cities. See the article on Husskie here.
TOY STORY 4
We went with a group in South Africa to see this, I had kids to the left of me and to the right. It was so cute! Without going into the details, it was a great end to the series. I loved Forky and all the adventures. Far better than the third film.
Before I flew out for the rest of the month, I filmed a video for my IGTV featuring 12 pieces of clothing that make up my capsule wardrobe. It was a fun thing to revisit, I’ve talked about it on the blog enough. Those key pieces are so damn versatile. If you haven’t seen it, the video is up now @inspiringwit.
GOING UP IN WEIGHTS AT THE GYM
Despite twisting my ankle early in the month and having a couple of weeks off of the gym (gah!), I got right back into my routine and increased my weights. I still only use small ones, but it felt good to be feeling a little stronger and pushing my body that little bit further. For the most part, I still do a lot of body weight workouts but I do like adding a bit of weight in to mix it up.
Well, this is an obvious one! My first trip to South Africa was an eye opener and a lot of fun. There are tons of stories and pics to come. So far I’ve just gotten home and dumped the camera card loads to my computer to get to asap. Then jet lag hit me. So, SA was great and I will share more soon.
BEING OUT OF MY COMFORT ZONE
That said, I definitely came home feeling deeply grateful for all of the things I take for granted at home. I liked the experience of being out of my comfort zone during the trip more than I’d expected too. Before we left I had a night or two freaking out that I’d not be in control of my days, in touch with my work, etc. But, I ended up being thankful for the break and the chances to experience very different ways of life.
Enough for now, I have all the posts I had half drafted to share with you while I was traveling but didn’t get to finish to come… back to regular programming. What have you been up to? Let me know below. xx Jenelle
