My top three beauty YouTubers and three easy steps for giving yourself a style makeover.
GIVE YOUR STYLE A MAKEOVER
We can all feel a little stuck in a rut, some times it is just your way of thinking that you need to reconsider to shift things and change them up. Below I thought I would share a few simple makeover tips to inspire you to mix things up.
TRY A NEW MAKEUP LOOK
I know this will sound very reality-TV makeover show, but trying a new makeup look is a fun and simple way to refresh your style. For me, who tends to stick to the no-makeup-makeup look and will deviate to either a red lip or a smokey eye, a new look makes a huge change.
Watch YouTube videos for inspiration and tips.
There are a ton of beauty bloggers to chose from. If you are anything like me, many of them will be far to advanced for you, but there are some who do less intense looks. Of course, once I started looking for beauty bloggers who created my kind of low-fuss looks I found a few good ones. I will list my faves below. After watching, I then tend to try giving the looks a go myself a few times, and hope for the best. See how you go! Generally you can work with the makeup you already have. Often I just find new ways to use products.
Alternatively, book yourself in to see a makeup artist and chat to them about creating a new look for you. I always ask makeup artists to tell me about skin and cosmetic products that they love, that are trending and to teach me a tip if there is something I am stuck on creating. It doesn’t hurt to ask and generally they love talking about products they love.
MY TOP THREE FAVOURITE BEAUTY YOUTUBE VLOGGERS:
Violette, of violette_fr a Parisian makeup artist living in New York who has that very French lived-in style natural beauty that I love.
Another I reccomend is Tamira Jarrel, who is a blogger I have followed for years, she is super down to earth and tells it like it is. Her style is very minimal and edgy. Personally I love that she doesn’t sugar coat things, something a lot of beauty bloggers do that irks me.
Finally, last week I was introduced to another makeup artist, Katie Jane Hughes, so I have been catching up on her videos. Katie does some really different beauty looks, a lot are very natural and she allows the skin to really feature beautifully.
FIND A CURRENT TREND THAT YOU LOVE AND MAKE IT YOURS
The example here is the fishnet. I have been wearing these little fishnet socks for a while now, and I feel like they always lift an outfit. My best advice when it comes to adopting a trend is to just find something you love and wear it whatever way feels most comfortable and natural to you. I don’t recommend wearing something exactly the way that you see it on everyone else, it can end up looking like it owns you.
OPT FOR AN UNEXPECTED COLOUR
If you tend to stick to one palette, try adding in a completely new colour to give your looks a complete refresh. I may have the odd green or yellow piece in my wardrobe, but rarely wear either. My next colour to mix in will be lilac. Watch this space. You never know, you might just find the new colour that will makeover your entire wardrobe.
Over to you, what are some of your easy makeover tips when you feel like you are in a style rut? Got a good one for us? We would love to hear it in the comments below.
